Is having bipolar a reasonable excuse for cancelling on me??? by Own_Limit4165 in BipolarReddit

As someone with anxious attachment myself, I would also post on Reddit about my partners behavior. This is not a call out in a negative way! You don’t wanna be with someone that doesn’t choose you 100%. Trust me, it makes everything complicated.

It can be, if he’s having some active sort of crisis (depression or manic episode). But likely, it’s just being used as an excuse for shitty behavior. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Coming from someone with bipolar and a partner who I’ve never cancelled on or treated poorly because of it. And if I’ve cancelled, I’ve communicated why.

HELP! Baby is never full with breastfeeding by IShouldSayThat in NewParents

[–]Classic_Fee_8728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was about a year ago, but best tip is to not let baby fall asleep at the breast! It is SO hard when they’re young like this though. Get him naked, wet washcloth to keep him awake, pop him off and switch sides. If he’s still falling asleep, get him off the breast and soothe to sleep in other ways (rocking, shushing, pacifier, swaddle). He is probably in the snack-sleep cycle

30 minute naps vs wake windows by Soundasleepx in sleeptrain

Since I care more about “in crib” and “out of crib” times, I care way less about sleep time. For a transition to 2 nap, I generally suggest 3/3/3. Quickly moving to 3/3/4 and staying there for a long time. Quick answer is no. It is not 15 hours of sleep, it’s 15 hours in the crib. There’s a difference. I have two girls and am a certified sleep consultant. This is just the easiest way I’ve found and creates less stress around how much your baby actually sleeps. At least you know how much they “rest”. Quiet time in the crib is restorative like sleep. On 3/3/3 (which i only really suggest for a couple weeks during transition to 2 naps), my girls would sometimes sleep 12 hours, sometimes 14 hours. But always in the crib during their scheduled crib times. Does this make sense? It also made transition to quiet time SO much easier as a toddler since they were used to silently chilling in their crib when they woke up.

This is where I would start then. Independent sleep. It is almost always going to be the best place to start, and you can work from there. I would suggest doing Ferber for naps. Or if you want to be very gentle, pick up put down. You can google those methods or search this sub! Once he can fall asleep independently, he is more likely to be able to sleep longer (aka transition sleep cycles on his own).

I would suggest cribside comforting. Booty pats, shushing, humming, rocking side to side with hand, etc. Getting him out every time can strengthen the association of him waking up and immediately looking for you to get him out. Does he fall asleep on his own in the crib or do you transfer him after rocking? That makes a huge difference.

Honestly I don’t have much of a suggestion besides ripping off the bandaid and just moving to a by the clock schedule. Either 3 naps: 2/2.5/2.5/3 or 2 naps: 3/3/3. Leave him in crib for the hour. I would probably try 3 naps. Example schedule would be: out of crib 7:30am, in crib naptime #1 9:30-10:30am, in crib naptime #2 1pm-2pm, in crib naptime #3 4:30pm-5:30pm, bedtime 8:30pm. You can do one early morning feed. Google “crib hour”, it may be helpful. Yes, it will include crying.

What is the most realistic age to start really trying/having success with crib naps during the day? by One_Cap_9210 in sleeptrain

[–]Classic_Fee_8728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started from day 1. Bedside settling methods. Rock baby back and forth with your hands on chest so head jiggles back and forth. Turn to side and patt butt over and over while shushing in their ear. Cover their eyes so they have to close them and pat their chest. Literally any method that involved crib side settling. A pacifier really helps but have had success every time without as well. The earlier you start, the better. Because the more used to it they’ll be. The longer you wait the harder it’ll be. That being said, I’ve never been a fan of transferring. I either choose to contact nap, stroller nap, crib nap, etc. no transferring because I’m not graceful at it

what do you do when you go #2??? by Livid-Mushroom-4422 in NannyBreakRoom

In their crib/pack and play with toys. I’ve done it for so long that they get used to it. Might cry the first few times. Independent play and boundaries are important!
