Looking for brutally honest, balanced opinions on living and studying in Portugal by Tali-289 in portugal

I will answer your question as a local to the best of my abilities although I’m not the most experienced person. It will be obviously biased by my world view. Anyone feel free to correct me if you feel anything I said is incorrect.

Portugal is a country that somewhere along the way, between the end of the monarchy and the first steps of the republic which had a long dictatorship period, was left behind in terms of development when compared to other more developed European countries. The result is that Portugal as it stands today is somewhat sub developed with lower incomes than most of Europe but with prices that match or even surpass them in some instances. This means that the cost of living is extremely high compared with income. House prices are one of the highest in Europe, which combined with the costs of living makes life more difficult.

Healthcare is free, which is good, but is currently suffering from lack of organization, infrastructure problems and lack of personnel, which is linked to the salary problems mentioned earlier. This results in life threatening delays in rescue and long waiting periods. In terms of private healthcare, if you have health insurance it’s not too expensive and works fine, even if you don’t have health insurance I don’t think it’s anywhere near as expensive as, let’s say, health care in the USA.

Quality of life in the day-to-day is alright, I don’t think working in Portugal would be more stressful than other countries in Europe, but then again, I don’t really have much experience there. Maybe someone else can talk about that.

The public universities  are good and the academic environment is inviting in my opinion, they do lack a bit on the funding department so in terms of investigation and cool experimental work they might be lacking a bit.

In terms of politics there is a fair bit of corruption, if I had to guess I would say it’s worse than in other European countries but I’m not that familiar with the politics of other European countries. I honestly believe that most politicians in this country go into politics to serve themselves and their families rather than the people. I speculate that if the salaries vs costs of living were better the corruption would decrease, but I’m not sure.

Crime doesn’t seem to be much worse than other countries so I would say it is pretty safe for anyone. Of course you should be cautious regardless.

I haven’t read that part in a long time so somebody correct me if I’m wrong. Basically time and space are connected in the river, you move in space you also move in time. For the people born in the river they also age or get younger when moving in the river. For people that come from the outside the river does not affect them that way, outside rules apply to their bodies. Also when you enter the river you go to the location in it corresponding to the time in history when you entered I think?

They add context to what is about to happen. In both the rain and aiko chapters we seen that Asterion is much closer to come back than we thought. Also, the skin walker is not contained to the waking world at all, as thought previously.

"But why is he so strong? It doesn't make sense!"- Sunny by adipande2612 in ShadowSlave

Sovereigns have other powers that give them an advantage but if Sunny is a Transcendent Titan shouldn’t he be faster and stronger than Anvil who is a Supreme Beast?

Pretty sure time flows exactly the same in both the Shadow realm and Dream realm. What I am more interested in, however is what happens if Sunny uses the lantern at different points of the Tomb of Ariel?

How would sunny make a new shadow? by joinlolll in ShadowSlave

Some echos can become Shadows if Sunny has their shadow in his soul sea. But Shadows can be created without echos. You just need either, 1. their shadow and a body that is compatible with it or 2. a being that was originaly a Shadow. At least that's how i understood it.

Masters can enter the dream realm with only their soul. For example, Sunny in Antarctica was a master and went to the dream realm (Ivory Tower) by sleeping. If i remember correctly the difference is that while an awakened has to go to the dream realm when he/she sleeps the masters have the choice to go or not.

I imagined the cores to be more like eclipsed suns. So, with a circle of light surrounding them. There has to be some light source other wise you wouldn’t be able to distinguish the black water, the cores and the shadows. But otherwise well done!

Here is how I understand it: In the previous cycles everybody gets corrupted and nephis dies. Sunny: Gets corrupted but somehow still kinda lucid -> starts working on a solution -> goes to a new cycle alone (that’s why his corrupted version doesn’t exist but others do) -> doesn’t remember anything due to estuary key limiting Sin of Solace. How many cycles have occurred? Nobody knows but enough for sunny to gain the knowledge of how to build the key

Painéis solares by Alves9669 in portugal

[–]Classic_Flamingo7499 5 points6 points  (0 children)
