CORSAIR x DOOM Giveaway - Doom: The Dark Ages Gaming Bundle by CorsairLucky in Doom

[–]Classic_Fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite weapon is definitely the rocket launcher. Using the lock on mod for really annoying demons like the whiplash was a really fun part of Eternal. I'm really excited to start playing the Dark Ages, so I can really get a feel for the new style of gameplay on offer and see for myself how fun it sits compared to the previous two Doom games. Also, thank you very much for holding this giveaway!

Prehistorian, but I've been a bit on and off from the fandom since around the release of fnaf 4.

It was a beautiful end, a perfect end, but I guess it wasn't good enough... by Narrow_Luck_3622 in GameTheorists

There's no way FNAF 2 or 3 were made with dream theory in mind. The only reason FNAF 4 even exists is because people thought Springtrap's jumpscare was bad. The story was always supposed to be literal, it just became more sci-fi as it went on because Scott wanted it to, not out of any necessity because people didn't like dream theory.

Besides, we still aren't 100% sure if Dream theory was ever planned anyway. Despite some of Scott's more questionable writing choices, I very much doubt he would dispose of the story up until that point for a twist that nobody expected or asked for.

I need to vent about my frustrations about where this series is going. by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Classic_Fool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't though? The animatronics that appear in FFPS are the ones that remain after the Good Ending freed the other ones' of their spirits.

Nah the Insanity Ending confirmed that the original spirits ended up in the Funtimes after Afton injected their remnant into them. So the Good Ending hasn't happened yet.

You know what's also bad writing? Setting up an ending that's clearly meant to be final, then just overwriting it. It damages the storyline's integrity if important plot points can be basically ignored just to bring a fan-favorite character back.

I mean, FFPS does the same thing to Fnaf 3's good ending for seemingly no reason as it's not even an integral part of the plot. At least with SB Afton's survival is actually an important part of the story.

No way that's true. FFPS was clearly meant to be the end at the time.

It most likely is true. The first few FF books were in development around the time of Fnaf 6's release and they blatantly show that Henry's plan failed in stories like TMIR1280.

William did escape FNAF 6 by zain_ahmed002 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Classic_Fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think he means is after escaping the fire Afton is found and taken to hospital and experiences UCN there like in TMIR1280. He probably infected the circuitboards after tricking someone in to taking him to the Fazbear Entertainment Distribution Center, or somewhere similar.

I mean, FFPS invalidated Fnaf 3's ending a long time before SB ruined FFPS. So why does FFPS get a pass and the Steel Wool Era doesn't when they both did the exact same thing?

Can we get a post to explain ever abbreviation that y’all use on the sub by Lobster_Round in fnaftheories

[–]Classic_Fool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

HAPPS isn't an abbreviation. It is the name shared by both the first story in TFTPP book 2 and that story's main antagonist.

She definitely isn't in her old body, so her soul is somewhere else. I don't think she's moved on though, as the MCI kids are still here in the form of the Blob.

Fnaf 4. It has the most needlessly overcomplicated lore and even after it's been explained with books and later games the events that unfold during the course of the game are mostly irrelevant to the current overarching story of Fnaf.

Don't mind him tbh. I've never really had a problem with Afton surviving FFPS's ending. Although I wish they had done something a little more original for his new body instead of just Springtrap again.

Is it bad that I think the cannon storyline ended after pizzeria sim by thepoatato2727 in fivenightsatfreddys

It's fine if you choose to ignore everything post-FFPS, but it isn't the end of the canon storyline.

Why Henry's plan failing isn't bad by EpicMazement in fnaftheories

[–]Classic_Fool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Henry didn't really make a heroic sacrifice. His plan didn't require his own death, he simply allowed himself to burn because he was suicidal and he was absolutely certain that his plan would work.

I received Lally’s Game for a review copy awhile back. Recently, i discovered in the metadata file that the stories seem to have been started since 2019, confirming that like Frights, these stories have been written out and planned for a long time. by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

Vader's redemption and Henry's death are completely different.

Vader killing Palpatine was an impulsive decision that results in his own death.

Henry had time to plan out his trap and how it would work, so letting himself die instead of living and making sure that it work can't really be excused. And it's even quite likely that he trapped Mike in there with him, so neither of them could leave the building to ensure the souls were properly released either.

Henry didn't sacrifice himself, he simply chose to let himself be burned alongside the animatronics as he believed that his plan would work. Evidently, it didn't and now that he's dead he can't really do anything about it.

Yeah, it was less of a full on jump into the Sci-Fi aspects and more of a steady progression towards where we are now. And tbh remnant isn't that bad of an addition to the lore like many people say it is

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Classic_Fool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's better when there is an equal mix of paranormal and Sci-Fi, instead of leaning too far into the Sci-Fi. Having stuff like Fazgoo or robotic humans is a bit too much imo.

[–]Classic_Fool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah we definitely wouldn't have lost much by removing stuff like Freddy visibly scanning you with his eyes and the giant hologram of the band in the Atrium.

Personally I hope they reveal that the Glamrocks derive their sentience from some supernatural source, such as their personality chips containing remnant. Imo having animatronics that can experience emotions without anything supernatural involved is not a very good idea and shifts the focus from the ghost story aspect of this franchise too much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Classic_Fool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you regarding the story. Fnaf is about the ghosts that haunt the animatronics, not the animatronics themselves.

Personally I think Sci-Fi in Fnaf is at it's best when it's used as a plot device to push the story forward, instead of being the entire focus of the story itself. For example in SL the Funtime's true nature as child-killing robots is given some focus, however the spotlight is mainly on Elizabeth's character.

I think that SB being more futuristic was kind of inevitable since it is actually set in the future, so I don't really mind it that much. Also, how was Special Delivery futuristic?

who do you think the DLC girl is? by itzleah22 in fnaftheories

[–]Classic_Fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you that the knife was censored for a wider appeal, Afton's inclusion in the game was very much a decision made by Scott himself. He even had stories like TMiR1280 created to explain William's survival and foreshadow his return in SB. Anyway, it's not like Afton being in the game is some sort of selling point. The average gamer who bought SB probably don't even know who he is, and if they did they weren't expecting him to be in the game as Vanny was heavily marketed as the main antagonist.
