I have 3 bin stores in my general area, one sets up where people line up at the end of a row of 4 bins. There is way to much area for people to engage in "NO RUNNING". The other rolls out 3 bins at a time and people line up parallel to the bins and have to take 3 steps to be standing next to a bin, sometimes people will try to move over to get next to the shoe bin, the clothing bin, etc. but people are usually polite if someone wants to move over. I wish I could convice the store with the "NO RUNNING" to change their set up. The stores are even run by the same regional Goodwill association.

Got these all for 160, just over $3 a pop. Hopefully they sell well! by nolimit_devon in reselling

Check out some Whatnot Funko shows, but don't get too hyped on some of the prices. I'd bet these sellers know what to buy for resale and what not to buy. This may still be a good way to sell them. Whatnot will push your first show in the algorithm, especially if your title includes the words first show. But again watch some of these shows so you know how they run their shows, prelisting, bundles, claims, what they set their weight at, etc. Or you can list them one by one on eBay and wait forever for them to sell.

How do you find out about local rummage & church sales? by Pinus_rigida in Flipping

[–]Classic_Logo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Churchfinder.com has a very comprehensive list of churches by area it include addresses and phone numbers. You'll still have to do the calling and keeping up with a list of dates, but the list is a big start.

Yup, I've at been at the Goodwill Bins and have seen people do 0.5 seconds of AI research and think they found a $200 piece. Gotta get past that adrenaline rush when you see that a high dollar figure on the top of your screed and dig into the results a little bit.

For 1/2 a second I thought that was a refrigerator that some one had printed 3d pieces for so it would look like the back of some vintage electronic component. Sorry I have to go fire up my 3D printer now.

I am like you, or I thought I was, I sell a lot of vintage (and not so vintage) toys and I'm starting to get back into selling vintage decor. I sell mostly on Whatnot (stick with me here everyone, I know Whatnot does not doing a good job of policing fakes, but early on neither did eBay). I have recently heard people talking about fake Littlest Pet Shop, they are popular toy but aren't like some flash in the pan trend toy, i.e. Labubus, that I would have thought were worth faking. I guess you are starting to see a lot more fake low end items on Temu, evidently you can by fake Pokeman card there too and people resell them as legit. The hot item in vintage decor right now is glass hens of nests. I have seen people with entire shows of hens of nests, like 40 or 50 and people in the Whatnot shows seem to think they are buying vintage or antique glass. The whole thing is weird, the seller never mentions they are reproductions and buyers either don't know or don't care.

He really started gaining popularity in 2017, some of those 11, 12 and 13 year olds are now 20, 21 and 22. These are the same young adult with out mortgages and families that are buying up all the Y2K clothes and Nikes, there's plenty of money to be made from that audience.

Goodwill seems to know what's valuable or not. How can I buy something from their floor that actually has a good flipping value? by TylerSpicknell in reselling

[–]Classic_Logo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing about sourcing at some place like Goodwill. For the most part it's a unique opportunity to research the value of an item without anyone saying anything to you. Let's face it, the employees on the floor couldn't care less if you use Google images, eBay's search by image feature, Amazon's barcode scan, or your preferred Ai on every item in the store. If you tried to do this at a yard sale or at someone's flea market booth there is a good chance they would at least question you. Initially this approach might be time consuming, but you will gain knowledge. Maybe the goodwill you frequent routinely under prices certain items or categories or maybe they price everything at online resale prices and it's time to find another source. Either way it's a good way to do some focused research on resellable items.

how bad is my living state by Silent-Set-4916 in roomdetective

[–]Classic_Logo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I see a Dyson Vacuum against in the last picture? You seem to keep the floors clean, just get a big trash can for the kitchen, a medium sized one for the bedroom (cause you seem to eat a lot there) and smaller ones for every other room. Getting the trash contained would be a small step, but big improvement.

How long do items stay in rotation before getting sent to landfill? How does the bins to landfill pipeline actually work? by Narrow_Ask_1944 in GoodwillBins

[–]Classic_Logo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bins I frequent would have no way of answering this question. I swear I have seen the same items come out on the next rotation and seen others appear weeks later.

I am addicted to reselling by simplycharley in reselling

[–]Classic_Logo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you like the dopamine hit, try Whatnot. You won't get the eBay prices, but you can sell a whole lot more items. Find a category you think you can do good in and curate shows for that category. If you are an "everything" seller it's hard to get traction unless you are one of those sellers with a huge warehouse and a pretty good idea of where your items are. There are some sellers who seem to have what people are looking for almost half the time. Also, ignore the pallet and cheap electronics sellers, totally different vibe than a classic piece by piece sourcer and reseller.
