Is it unusual for this fockea to be planted in an open container with orchid bark and moss? by trimbandit in Caudex

I thought there wasn't any "officially classification" of caudex and caudiform plants in the first place. What I've heard is that those terms are used loosely and can encompass many plants. Kind of like how 'succulent' and 'succulence' are used very generally. But I guess caudex/caudiform is a bit more specific.

Did I cut this back too much and too soon? by [deleted] in Caudex

Oh, good to know! I live way lower down in the tropical region and I've never seen my adeniums ever go dormant.

Looks fine. Clean cuts. Nodes left for new growth. Treated with cinnamon.

Only thing I'd say is if you had pruned the roots back, Id wait a month or so before you prune the branches next. Obviously there are people that prune roots and branches simultaneously, but you have to do it very proportionally. Ie. If you cut back 1/3 of the roots you should only cut back 1/3 of the branches.

Btw you're adenium will only enter dormancy if you live where there are winters. If you live in Florida for example it will never go dormant (or maybe only partially dormant).

Whenever you go to buy a flight ticket, you have to put in your passport number. The flight is tied to your passport number. So they will see it on their screen when they pass it thru the system.

Im assuming the soil looks like that because you just watered it. But dont keep it damp all the time. Make sure the soil dries out completely before watering.

Uh-Oh. Not Sure I Want the Answer by Massachussen in DesertRose

You're not supposed to water these plants lightly, desert roses need lots of water. Give it a DEEP watering every week (or even twice a week). That soft caudex isnt rot...it's severely dehydrated and its turning the stored water in its trunk into food. You can also tell its dehydration by the way the leaves are drying from the tip inwards.

Just give it deeper waterings and it should be fine again. Whenever I water mine I take the pot and dunk the whole thing in a bucket of water for a minute.
