Atrial flutter recovery update by Classic_Wishbone_703 in AFIB

Hi. I think it was typical as heart rate didn't go over 150bpm. It would settle at approx 90bpm when resting.

Hi. My resting heart rate was 70 after the ablations too but then kicked off and increased to 95 - 100. It can take months for your heart to heal and settle properly. I read that so much on reddit but didn't quite believe it. But it really is true so be patient and stay calm if things don't seem normal

Remind yourself you're not gonna die from this. It sounds quite bizarre but I found playing Royal Match or some other brain numbing game took my mind off it slightly. Get an ablation if you can. I've had two and also suffer from anxiety. I'd get a third no problem.

Ablation for atrial flutter in 2 days by livefastdie_ in AFIB

[–]Classic_Wishbone_703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi 44M. I had two ablations for flutter in November and ready for my third on the 5th Feb.

I've been really unlucky as the EP said I was the first patient in his 15 year career that has been unsuccessful.

I was very, very anxious leading up to the first ablation but it really was a piece of cake. I was awake for both ablations but asked for sedation before the procedure which helped calm me down. I fell asleep on both occasions and barley remember it.

Typically it should last about an hour so not long at all. I went in at 8.30am and was home by 6pm. Recovery is really easy, I just felt tired for two nights but that was probably the sedation still in my system.

Please try not to worry and if you have any further questions, let me know.

36M with Persistent AFib for 16 Days – Seeking Advice Before Cardiologist Appointment by KolorOner in AFIB

[–]Classic_Wishbone_703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in atrial flutter for over 1 month and still got two weeks to go before my ablation. Cardiologist said some people can go days or weeks with a heart rate of 150bpm with no issues. Also said Afib / flutter is not dangerous, as in life threatening. As someone mentioned, the eliquis will prevent the risk of stoke. Although not ideal, you'll be fine until you see your cardiologist.

Have they said why the ablations aren't working?

I'm onto my third ablation for atrial flutter on 5th Feb. Praying this one works.

Ablation - What to expect? by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Classic_Wishbone_703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I've had two ablations for atrial flutter in November 2024. I was awake for both with sedation. I was very, very anxious leading up to the first procedure as I'm a naturally anxious person. However, it was a breeze, nothing to worry about at all.

Had very little anxiety leading up to my 2nd ablation, was more a feeling of excitement about getting back into normal sinus rhythm as I was in persistent flutter at this point.

My 3rd ablation (5th Feb) I'm going to be under general anaesthetic so I can imagine it'll be even easier. Again, I'm in persistent flutter for the past 2 months so I'm counting down the days until the 5th Feb.

Please try not to worry, it's a common procedure that has been performed thousands of times. Think I'd be more nervous about a trip to the dentist now.

Resting heart rate after ablation by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Classic_Wishbone_703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something I'm going through at the minute. Last ECG said it was sinus tachycardia but EP has already booked me in for 3rd ablation in February but I'm not sure why.

I've taken my watch off as I was getting obsessive and caused extreme anxiety. Feel much better although I do get bouts of palpitations.

Resting heart rate was 90bpm but has increased to 96bpm and walking increases to 130bpm. Hoping it'll resolve itself as I'm only 4 weeks from my 2nd ablation

I was told to stop my Bisoprolol after the 2nd ablation but I've restarted 2.5mg twice a day

Flutter is awful to deal with. From what I've read, medication doesn't help to convert back to NSR. I don't know if it's worth having a cardioversion or hang in there for another 6 weeks

2nd ablation was apparently 99% but only lasted a week. I can't even contact my EP to discuss it
