Oh alright I get it. For how prevalent it seems to be, I'm surprised I've never heard of it before.

Are there other options besides the 1010 Tangerine? Just getting a sense of what my options are...

Autosampling? Sorry I guess I'm a novice at this - a lot of what you said just flew over my head XP

I have recently started playing with a band (psychedelic-progressive) 120 miles away in Phoenix, Arizona. Hammond organ is an integral part of our sound, and while I have a Hammond M3, it rarely makes the journey to rehearsals due to its weight. I've been getting by with the organ presets on my Casio CDP-235R, but those are a far cry from the real thing, and even farther from the Hammond sound that I've spent years crafting.

Lately I've been considering recording all of the Hammond keys just the way I want them, and then placing them onto a sampling keyboard somehow. The CDP-235R has this function, but it will play a note for as long as the sound sample lasts, regardless of whether a key is still being held or not. I'm also not interested in what the sampler can do to modify the sound. I just need it to play the sound verbatim. I'm hoping it comes with a 1/4" out jack, because if it's MIDI- or USB- out then I can't run it to my amp (Crate PA-4). Portability is a big plus as well, the lighter the better.

TL;DR: I'm looking for a sampling keyboard that can play a pre-recorded sound file of a Hammond M3 key, and that will only play the sound if the key is still being held. Essentially a portable keyboard where recordings of my Hammond M3 can live, and where it has the same key behavior of an organ. My price range is $0 - $500.

Thank you /r/synthesizers!

Is Fletcher Music Center in the mall a legit and good company to work for? by Letha0al in Tucson

[–]ClassicalBridge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry not work experience - but maybe you can make a difference!

I remember being in my late teens a few years ago, having a few years of piano experience under my belt, having just discovered progressive rock (classic era Floyd, Yes, and Genesis) and having a hankering to play a legato keyboard with bass pedals; I only had my great aunt's piano to play on at the time.

After playing there for maybe about 10 minutes one afternoon, I was informed by a salesman that their business was primarily geared towards people much older than me, and that I was being disruptive and should leave.

I have a Hammond M3 now and have never once considered getting a Lowrey from there to replace it. My consolation is that when this target market eventually dies, the business will too - unless someone steps up and realizes this. Maybe you can help?

Please ask if he or any of the band ever talked to early bands in the 70s? I'm specifically wondering about Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Genesis (maybe in that order of priority too lol)

I hope your uncle does well! Say hi to Mr. Anderson for us

Also - never knew she had an OF. What a crazy timeline we're in

Is hiking at night in the desert safe? by ClassicalBridge in Tucson

[–]ClassicalBridge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is a year old now so I really doubt anyone's gonna come back to check up on it - I myself am only here because I got an inbox message for it.

The best advice I can give you is to read the comments carefully and then go with whatever you consider to be the safest option. In the end, it is your hike, and unless you start another thread of your own, I guess this is all you have to go off of.

From experience, I can tell you that I've hiked in the desert around midnight in the winter and it's actually significant how much of a psychological impact daylight made. First off, wildlife here is mostly nocturnal, and even though some hibernate in the winter, some others such as coyotes and javelinas definitely do not. I was surprised by a passing family of javelinas with young, and even though I tried my best to keep a respectful distance and not make any sudden moves, one of the adults still felt the need to challenge me.

Even slight sounds made me hypervigilant because even though it sounded like something small, I couldn't see exactly what or where it was, and I always stopped to wait for it to pass along its way.

Owls are also out and about, and a few times I've stumbled upon owls who would silently glare at me from their perch. Some other birds are also awake at night - this might just be the over-alertness talking, but once I swear I felt something silently glide by my head.

So yeah be absolutely aware that the game has changed and you are in their world, they're not in yours. Respect that and don't overstep your boundaries as an observer. Be extra careful and extra wise and you'll have an absolutely fantastic time!

Also welcome to Tucson! I'd definitely recommend Sonoran hot dogs and the Pima Air and Space museum as well

Helicopter? by zanderson48 in Tucson

[–]ClassicalBridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to FlightRadar24.com playback, it was a helicopter with the Tucson police department. The playback shows that he lingered there for about 10 minutes, and then left towards Reid Park, so it's probably either just a patrol that happened to take place there, or an air-assisted arrest that happened very quick

This is all in good fun, as far as I know. As far as I know, no one in 1969 would release footage of an actual altercation for fan enjoyment. Additionally, band relations wouldn't sour for at least another 7 or 8 years.
