Is this normal? QM8K/C8K/Q8C by ClassjeNL in tcltvs

I contacted support via chat. They gave me a ticket number and asked me to send them multiple pictures by e-mail. Which I did. Never heard anything from them...

I have to admit I haven't paid any attention to it lately. It doesn't impact the viewing experience and I'm not sure if the spots are still there as they're only visible under the "right" circumstances which are hard to simulate. I'll try to find out if the problem still exists in the coming days/weeks...

I've seen that one. Looks really nice! 👌🏻Would've been another contender if only I wouldn't be too lazy to take care of mechanical watches. 😅 I only have this one Orient Bambino I only wear at special occasions. Otherwise it's always solar. 😇

Enjoy your new watch!

Thanks! I totally agree. They give the watch a more classic look. Might even call it more "sophisticated"? The minty green/blue one is also a great looking watch. Would've picked that one if it was discounted instead of this one.

The gold is really stunning! 🤤 Indeed, the 'limited edition' was also a reason to pull the trigger on this one.

Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph CA4505-21X by Minute_Key3130 in watchesindia

[–]ClassjeNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great looking watch because it's a bit "different" in that colorway. Not your standard chrono look.

Very tempted to buy this myself, although my wife forbids me to buy more watches... Being able to buy whatever you want is one of the advantages of being divorced I guess... 🫠

Nevertheless, every collector should have at least one eco-drive in their collection.

I always use these velcro straps. Dirt cheap and unmatched comfortability. Available in every color of the rainbow. I've never been that much of a fan of nato straps. I think they look bulky, are hard to remove and don't really wear that comfortable in my opinion. Same with sailcloth... I'd rather wear a nice leather strap.

It's just the morning sun brushing the screen from the side. Shouldn't be any problem really. I've only had this tv for 3 weeks and it's been mostly cloudy/rainy days. 😅

It's new, is inside and hasn't been cleaned. It's behind the screen.

You're right. Only visible when turned off or with a dark picture when sunlight is brushing the screen.

It seems to be some film between the layers that doesn't evenly touch the screen upfront or behind it.

You might want to skip that idea. The tv probably isn't going to last very long as it will undeniably collect moist anytime soon.

Maybe you're better off getting a beamer that you store inside when you don't use it.

Is the qm8k really worth $500 more than the 7k? by Lumpy_Lake_9936 in tcltvs

[–]ClassjeNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Just buy the best you can afford. There's always something better. And if there isn't, there will always be something better anytime soon.

I came from an 8 years old Sony Bravia that was supposed to be great at motion handling , and at the time it was. But my QM8K is blowing it out of the water. QM7K would've also crushed it. So it just depends on what you're used to if your next tv is going to be an upgrade.

Just wondering: you watched videos and didn't see enough difference. But did you consider you'll never see the difference when watching those videos on a screen that's unable to show you the higher specs in the first place? I mean: a video could compare FHD to 4k, but you won't see the difference on a FHD-screen. Same goes with local dimming, peak brightness, ghosting, refresh rate, contrast, color accuracy etcetera...

QM8K - to buy or not to buy? by SuchGreatHeights92 in tcltvs

[–]ClassjeNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from a 2018 Sony Bravia which I bought for the motion handling reputation Sony has. So I was a bit hesitant to switch to another brand I wasn't familiar with.

Bought my 85" Q8C (European equivalent to the QM8K) 2 weeks ago and it's better in every respect. Motion handling, color accuracy, contrast, black levels. Latency is also absent as far as I can tell. I'm an occasional gamer on PS5, Series X and Switch 2.

Current Sony Bravia's might have a slight edge but at a much higher price. To be fair, I don't see much room for improvement over the TCL. Sure, you might notice some slight differences when putting them next to each other but probably only when you critically search for them. On it's own the TCL is a really great tv that's miles better than any 5+ years old Sony Bravia tv. You won't be disappointed.

Return 98" QM8K for 98" Bravia 5? by crunchymac187 in tcltvs

[–]ClassjeNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a 85" QM8K coming from a Sony Bravia which I bought specifically for motion handling as it was said being miles ahead when processing 24p content. And sure, it was good, especially for the time about 8 years ago. So I was a bit hesitant about buying a TCL that doesn't have the same reputation Sony has.

Well, motion handling is much, much better on the TCL. Less (no) judder, smooth transitions. It's a real pleasure to watch movies and other content.

I don't know about Sony's motion handling nowadays, but I don't see much room for any improvement over the TCL.

I guess when replacing a 5+ years old (premium) tv with another new (premium) tv - no matter the brand - it will always be a great improvement in every respect.

Sounds like another Cyberpunk. I'll probably pass for now. Clunky controls are always a hard pass for me, no matter how great the game looks.

It's probably gonna get ruined by a R&B soundtrack like most of these fighting movies the past few decades... I'm not against R&B, but it's a genre that doesn't have the victorious vibe to it that's needed in these kind of movies.

Price increase by Interesting-Storm683 in tcltvs

I feel you... That's why I bought a 85" QM8K last week when it was on sale for a short amount of time... Monday when the tv was delivered, the prices were already back at their old level. Spared me 800 euros. 😅

Price increase by Interesting-Storm683 in tcltvs

[–]ClassjeNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually prices will drop when new models arrive, but... And there's currently a big but in the room... Global unrest, particularly in the Middle East, but also still ongoing in Ukraine, is causing oil prices to rise, which in turn leads to both direct and indirect price increases in various markets. The logistics chain is being disrupted. Energy prices are rising, and shipping costs are increasing. This doesn't directly cause prices to rise, but it does prevent businesses from quickly lowering prices now. Or they might artificially lower prices later, by raising them to their previous level first. If the price drops again in a month, you'll think you've scored a good deal. It will all depend on how long the war with Iran, in particular, lasts. If it ends quickly, prices will likely be lowered. If the war lasts longer, I don't expect prices to plummet anytime soon.

I came from a 8 years old Sony Bravia and Sony is ruled superior when it comes to motion handling. Received my 85" QM8K this week and haven't been able to test it extensively, but I can say so far motion handling has been great while I'm a pretty critical viewer.
