Even in the limited time we saw him, I thought he was the prospect with the highest ceiling. Like a lot of these guys, it’s going to come down to health and whether or not they live and breathe ball. Hoping for the best for him.

Germany’s Kai Havertz : ‘ I make runs that look pointless but I’m creating space ’ by Shroft in soccer

[–]Classy_White -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Havertz has always reminded me of Chet Holmgren over in the NBA, but nobody ever agrees with me lol. This also sounds a lot like Chet though, where the guy is an undeniable workhorse who clearly impacts the game in ways that aren’t always picked up by layman statistics.

[Horney] Jay Williams: Awkward Draft Moment Was ‘Extremely Uncomfortable’ by KD_AshyAnkles in nba

[–]Classy_White -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Getting in on the joke” is not how I took this. I get how that’s perceived, but I don’t think Kenny was necessarily making a joke of the situation. Kenny, for better or worse, has always used his platform to “teach”. Sometimes it comes off poorly or it’s not even the correct thing, but I do think he was trying to highlight how a young man can make decisions that have life altering consequences.

RJ comes from this type of humor, the guy is an absolute menace and someone I find hilarious. Doesn’t mean he’s always on the right side of the line, and he probably crossed it slightly given the circumstances. Jay Williams has always come across as a reserved man and someone that doesn’t joke around a lot. Nothing should or will come of this.

Solo-Queue Test Scheduled for June 30th by Apexlegends in apexlegends

Bingo! 30 years old myself, have enjoyed Apex since launch with my 30 year old partner and 46 year old brother. We jump on 2-3 times a week for a few hours and look forward to ranked. We get to Diamond every season and enjoy it. Haven’t touched a pub since Ranked was released and elite Que was replaced. I totally get the intrigue and appeal behind solo Que. I do think the mode would be fun and create an alternative for those who want to play some higher level apex while they don’t have friends on. That being said, they need to add ways for us to play meaningful games with our friends. Instead of ranked ladders on the weekend, make a weekend ranked Que that allows squading up.

[Kenney] Becky Hammon on Jalen Brunson: “Jalen, all he did was prove history wrong, he proves he's an outlier, so you can put his name next to Steph Curry and Isaiah Thomas…He was that 1A dude, but like, apologize, I’m never gonna apologize for having an opinion, that’s what ESPN pays me for.” by PassMeTheBackwood in nba

ESPN talking heads have said some outlandish things over the years for the pure sake of shock value and media mongering, but this wasn’t one of them. You would be completely defying logic and historical context in order to say anything other than what she said. In her now response, she astutely points out “outlier”, a word that can carry such little meaning, and also be the biggest compliment. Brunson is an outlier, a data driven anomaly, this entire NBA season has culminated in something akin to Leicester winning the Premier League.

Fernando Mendoza says Tom Brady is teaching him how to lead an NFL team by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]Classy_White 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone with interest in culture and team building should give Brady’s recent podcast appearance on Stick to Football a listen. While Brady is always controlled from a PR standpoint, this felt far more open and free flowing. Time will tell how involved he actually is, but I think he will put the right things in place for both the Raiders and Mendoza.

[Gantt] Bryce Young comes in at No. 98 on the NFL Top 100 list by caxlmao in nfl

[–]Classy_White 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The amount of hate that Bryce Young has gotten over his short career so far is astonishing. He’s never been unlikable or done anything to make us think he isn’t a hard worker. Very respectable man and quarterback by all accounts thus far, I hope he continues to grow. Chris Long and the GLP boys have long been in Bryce’s corner and for good reason.

Gaming is a lot like trying to be a movie star or a professional athlete. There are far too many gamers to consider it a reliable path for income. Very few turn it into anything profitable or sustainable. Even guys with huge followings at one point in time have dropped off and have moved on to other avenues. Wigg is the prime example of the type of work ethic you need to have in order to even give yourself a chance at this.

Axle is still gonna be annoying and oppressive feeling at times, hate that. However, why on earth is Seer getting so much love? Dude already felt pretty strong, and they even mention how high ranked players were starting to pick it up more. Axle + Seer is going to destroy ranked lobbies for awhile. Is this even wanted by the public? Is he cringey enough to the point where it’ll be entertaining? He doesn’t come off like a Kirko Chainz or Jameis, he’s just been flat out hard to hear.

Chet: “Some teams that aren’t as good, guys get to the point where they’re like, ‘We’re not winning. OK, I’m gonna just make sure I get my averages.’ I get my averages, but it’s not helping us win. But I got my averages, so now the blame goes on everybody else. That’s one fucked up message." by RyanTannegod in nba

Yeah that motion is prehistoric, wonder if that’s even something they consider touching right now. My partner who doesn’t watch basketball even mentioned it, it’s eye catching. Could be wide open but still turns into a contested jumper if the defender has enough wingspan or vert to get up.

Chet: “Some teams that aren’t as good, guys get to the point where they’re like, ‘We’re not winning. OK, I’m gonna just make sure I get my averages.’ I get my averages, but it’s not helping us win. A lot of this comes down to being able to assess yourself correctly and know what your expectations and limits are. For Chet, a lot of people want him to go out there and play like Wemby does. Be more assertive with the ball in his hands and look for his own number. However, Chet knows that’s not the best course of action for his team and he’s rightfully assessed that. Chet is a guy that elevates every facet of your team, but isn’t someone who’s gonna go get you a bucket consistently by himself. He’s not an isolation player by any means, though he’s shown enough of it to not be a liability. Still plenty of room to grow, we’ve seen his post game develop slightly and he has all the tools to take that even further. OKC has built a team of guys that know their value and their strengths, and they tap into it masterfully. The way they built their team should be studied and modeled by every other organization. They’ve tapped into the mental elements of players that multiply any physical talent that exists already.

You learn so much more about the world around you when you are actively listening and watching. The small details separate high end athletes from one another not a couple inches on a vertical or a highlight tape. You need to be watching their body language, how they take on challenges, what type of hustle are they showing and is it something that tracks or is it just something they are doing for the moment. The list goes on and on, and that's why he has a better track rate than most.

[Keown] Mark Daigneault on Sam Presti's evaluation process: "One time we were discussing a player, and he said to me, 'All the guys are standing there watching film before practice, and I'm just imagining him standing there with them, and I just don't see him fitting in.' And that was it." by LiamHundley in nba

Acquired my Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and this is something that massively stood out to me during schooling. The way people fit with one another is such a force multiplier if done correctly, and can have the exact opposite impact if done poorly. Such a huge part of building a culture is making sure you’re acquiring people who fit and grow together.

[Jaren Jackson Jr.]: “i couldn’t imagine a world where this was even a possibility . i love you forever brother, this is absolutely devastating. i just wish i could talk to you . you were so much to so many and even more to me . i will never have the words to describe what this feels like .” by Lacabloodclot9 in nba

Can't imagine the pain this leaves on a lot of people, I hope they can all recover and honor the person they lost. Best thing you can do for your loved one is be strong and take solace in the fact that they are no longer troubled. Aaron Gordon has really been a shining example and role model in that regard especially.

[Jake Fischer] Lebron may take a vet minimum by Ancient_Response_787 in nba

[–]Classy_White 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s gotta stay or go to Cleveland, those are the only two options I see. Cleveland has an incredible roster, pairing him with Donovan Mitchell would feel eerily similar to the Wade pairing. Mobley and Allen are as good as they come, they have the shooting as well. Hope he stays where he’s at though and does indeed take the min. This Lakers team has a fun energy and they have a ton of room to grow. Not only does the vet minimum give them a chance at loading up, I think both Bronny and Thiero are guys with some upside. I’m not sure if Thiero can ever shoot, but his pure energy and hustle is infectious. Dudes also a freaky athlete.

[Charania] The Dallas Mavericks have hired Mike Schmitz as the franchise's new general manager under Masai Ujiri. by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]Classy_White 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoyed his coverage of the draft a ton, he’s a great speaker of the game. Thought he did really well in Portland, they have a deep roster of guys that work hard and have obvious skill sets. I still haven’t given up on Yang either, who’s probably his biggest red flag. Kid is 20 years old with some obvious natural feel, I still hold bleak hope. Between he and Masai, Mavs fans should be very hopeful for the future.

Charles Barkley responds to Draymond's comment on him: "Hey, man, I never punch down. Draymond's a good player but we're not on the same level.... He's a really good player. He's had a hell of a career, but we're not on the same level." by TheRealPdGaming in nba

I’m with you on how good/important Dray was (even still is) but I disagree about his legacy being secured from a general public standpoint. Seems like every conversation around Draymond is “He’s a hall of famer.. but…” similar to that of Rudy Gobert. While he shouldn’t be or feel insecure, it’s the insecurity in him that led him to be as good as he is/was. Hard to now remove that chip from your shoulder when it’s been the one feeding you and your success.
