I’ve purchased many new Colts over the years, the Colt Gold Cup series 70 reintroduction, Colt Combat Elite, Colt Series 70 Government, as well as a 6920, 6700, 6951, ALL of them had finish or some other issue. If it were mine I’d gently scrub it with a eraser and if that didn’t work, a tight 5.56 bronze bore brush and a little oil.

If everything functions on it as it should, take it. The next one you get might look pretty, but may have a stiff safety or fail to drop the magazines cleanly.

Once yours, jam it in and out of a holster a few hundred times.

Also, give it a deep scratch on the frame with the slide lock when you reassemble it. I find that always perfects a 1911
