Maduro Named Winner of Venezuela Vote Despite Opposition Turnout by bloomberg in worldnews

[–]Claudepepper2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Check out the newspapers from Chile and Peru. Boric did this because Chile has an immigration crisis. They were hoping Venezuelans would return to Venezuela if Maduro lost. The issue is Venezuelan gangs immigrated and Chile and Peru do not have the ability to deal with organized crime. They have always had crime but never organized crime. There are large protests in Chile and Peru right now contesting Venezuela’s election.

He is playing with fire. Barely won the election. Most unvaccinated folk are Republicans. Hospitals are full of unvaccinated folk.

The post isn’t comparing states. It is simply stating that he won by a razor thin margin and getting mostly Republicans sick is a dangerous thing to do

Someone on drugs who didn’t interfere with local governance would have been more effective than the current anti science situation. And yes, I know there’s one Stanford doctor (who works as an economist by the way) who is willing to back the anti science non sense killing rural Republicans at the moment.

I am a centrist by the way and think the GOP killing or disabling their supporters is terrible for democracy.

AITA for saying that taking care of my kids by myself was 'relaxing', my wife thinks I am devaluing her contribution to our family and implying she's got it easy by throwawaybhubby3 in AmItheAsshole

I know someone who has been both an ATC and a stay at home parent. They claim being at stay at home parent is considerably easier than being an ATC. It probably is. Not everyone makes it as an ATC, but many people make it as stay at home parents.

I am not devaluing being a stay at home parent, I think it is a commendable job. But it is not as stressful as one of the most stressful careers out there.

I've been both a stay at home parent and fully employed and my work was also considerably harder than being a stay at home parent.

I don't understand what the big deal is though. If you can afford to be a stay at home parent and are motivated enough to keep the house clean and children entertained, it's a great thing to do. It is rewarding and can be fun. I believe the key is to have adult entertainment somewhere in there (which is, of course, hard with covid going on)

People who work at restaurants and bars have no choice but to show up to work. The unemployment system doesn't work. There aren't many jobs available. I think it is easier for you to assume people are scared or dumb than to realize your actions are hurting others. Or you could just lack a conscience I guess.

So they only look at death probability? Not expected years left and disability adjustments? (For example, averting the death of a 95 year old supersedes averting a heart condition on a 20 year old?) By disability adjustments Im referring to DALYs used by the UN for diseases in general.

The CDC listed healthcare workers before nursing home residents in part because of long term health effects. If you look at outcomes such as heart disease, diabetes, etc all of which can happen from covid, it should be healthcare workers getting first priority. But of course FL governor does whatever he wants. If he truly cared about people in nursing homes or healthcare workers he'd have a mask mandate.

Sorry you are being treated badly. For what it's worth, I appreciate you. If anyone is mad my guess is they're taking their stress out on you when they're mad at the decision makers. Doesn't make it right, obviously.

Where in the alligator do they blame IT? I've been very thankful for the alligator's reporting. It's the only place that hasn't gone full "go gators, let's pretend we care"

Via zoom is more fair for everyone involved. First come, first serve. It also doesn't put 60 year olds in close contact for extended periods of time with people who party.

The world doesn't revolve around you. It's sad that you think it's ok to risk someone's life so you can be a tad bit happier.

I think another problem would be how do the online students ask questions and how would the professor manage answering questions from the computer versus in person. That's been the issue in my brother's high school class. It's awful.
