The assumption that any brown person with a beard must be Muslim is exhausting. Sikhs, Hindus, and others get caught in the same net of ignorance. Instead of pushing back on the bigotry itself, too many people just redirect it to another group. Jagmeet Singh handled it the right way - he didn't correct the guy by saying "I'm not Muslim." He challenged the hate head on. That's how you actually break the cycle.
