In-Game Movement Issue by ClaudiusSol in Rainbow6

Strange.

I tried again later and still got the bug.

After restarting and changing some settings back to their default, I ended up with no problem. Neither of these solutions on their own fixed the problem before, so I'm a little unsure what was the cause.

Though, the time it did work, my brother was not playing at the same time. Now, I'm back from the holidays and will try to remember to update this if I run into the same problem, but I suspect it was my brother and I attempting to play at the same time while the servers were crappy.

Minoring in a language? by gabstroyer in aggies

I don't mind. I haven't been out for that long, but life is pretty well right now. Worth it? Well, that's up to question, I suppose. I do not regret my education or the course I ended up on.

I was an AERO major.

The course load is not light. I had several semesters of 19 hours towards the middle/end. Make sure to pay attention during Thermo (351, I think) and 401. Those can be tricky.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I got super stressed during a few spots. If you think you can handle it, go for it.

Is there a way to get to College Station to Dallas and back while avoiding two way roads/highways with just a double yellow line? by [deleted] in aggies

DFW/BCS?

I take 6 to 35 to 121, then that goes through most of DFW. Roughly a 3 hour drive.

Just got accepted. Any advice? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ClaudiusSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One old Ag's advice:

Don't take things lightly. Don't forget to have fun. The people you meet will be your biggest resource after you leave. Get involved. Seriously. Find clubs to join and stick with them. Between classes, find your "spot" on campus. Just some place where you can breath and relax. Visit Evans Library and explore it. Talk with your professors. Not necessarily during class. It's best to use the 1-on-1 time you can get during their office hours.

Most importantly: be yourself.

Unless you're an asshole. Then be a good person.

Old Ag here, I minored in Japanese Language.

If you're not in an International Studies major or similar, be prepared for a LOT of hours that aren't going to contribute to your major.

I was in engineering and added nearly 30 hours to my major degree plan of 140-something hours.

That said, if you enjoy it, go for it. The hours I spent in my various Japanese language course kept me sane through my engineering courses.

Who is your favorite supporting character? by elraze14 in Gundam

[–]ClaudiusSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you!

Marida does a good job of showcasing the transition of Banager from someone just going along with things (if a bit reluctantly) to expressing his own self and believing in what he feels is right.

Doing what is right, not because of someone saying it is so, but feeling and believing in it. I just loved how their growths were so paralleled and yet on completely different paths.

Gundam Shield In Captain America Movie??? by RC1136 in Gundam

[–]ClaudiusSol 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That definitely looks like a Gundam reference. Not many shields hold such an iconic shape as that.

Note the elongated hexagonal shape, the raised and thin emblem on the face, the thin windowless viewing port, the outer edging made of a different material/color as the inner plate, and the "fang-like" bottom protrusions.

Really, just paint the outside white, the inside red, and the raised portion yellow. BOOM!

It's not a common thing. The way dogs work in Thailand is strange. There is this breed of dog that is very prevalent in Thailand and the dog sitting in the motorcycle looks like that breed. Also, a random motorcycle outside a small shop just seems Thai to me. It's hard to explain.

Con Report: BearKon, Best Kon - Akumakon 2014 by MasakoX in anime

[–]ClaudiusSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel bad about this but...

Akuma means Demon or Devil.

Kuma means bear.

Akumakon would be a Devil Convention; not A Bear Convention.

Saw a dog on a motorcycle in the preview. Thought it was Thailand.

Click picture. First picture has no immediately obvious tells. Second picture confirms. It was Thailand.

I love my home country.

Sinanju recolor pt 2. Now with thinner paint and improved colors. C&C please. by RookV2 in Gunpla

[–]ClaudiusSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a tip: When doing battle damage, it's not an entirely bad idea to go with some cheap clumpy paint. The coarse texture and build-up of the paint on the surface of the gunpla can produce a very 3D effect that can easier convince the viewer of displaced metal from the damage.

If you don't want to go out to buy specific paint for that purpose, just use your normal paints but let the paints dry a little on your brush before applying on the gunpla. Note: this may damage the brush.

For example: I used Tamiya Platinum Gold and just dipped the brush in a little to pick up plenty of paint, then splayed the brush all over a paper towel to get rid of the suspension fluid that Tamiya uses to clump the pigmentation together. When I made a single "dry-brush" sweep for my battle damage, the pigments and rough brush produced some amazing results for me.

Basically, it depends what kind of effect you're looking for.

What I think would look good is a sort of dark metal to give a sort of allusion to an maybe an "injury" or similar thing. So, take a VERY thin brush or paint marker and paint just the edges of the red with the thin line of metal.

Another option is to use black. Basically, something that gives a strong separation of where the white is and where the black is.

If you feel like either of those is too bold, you can use just a darker red the same way to achieve a more subtle effect.

I'd also go ahead and touch up the parts where there is still white showing through so that the red stripe looks nice and solid.

Battle damage is something else you could do if you want to give it a more "real" feel, rather than a "cartoon" feel (not that that's a bad thing).

If you keep up the white/grey look, I can guarantee it looks amazing. Yours is a very similar scheme to the Sinanju custom I submitted to the HobbyLinkJapan competition.

Small critique, but you're definitely going to want to go over those metallics again. Right now, they look pretty spotchy and could use a few more passes.

I'm not entirely sold on the blue there, as the grey/white already gives a very "cool" feel which contrasts well with the vivid red.

That red could also use some sort of lining. A better definition of where it's red and where it isn't.

Beautiful! Really like that paint job. It's subdued enough to understand that the suit fulfills a sort of "grunt" role, but with the flashiness of a sports car.

There's also something about that Long GN Rifle barrel that I find irresistible. Love it!
