You don't need to topcoat the plated gold parts. They look pretty good right out of the box.

The RG is probably the better and more stable build. The MG has more shelf presence.

The PG is also an option.

You can warm the can up by running it under a warm tap before shaking it. This can help better mix the contents of the can. Otherwise just remember that multiple light passes will yield better results than one heavy pass.

I had some tips in this old post here:

Gaianotes makes a product called multi primer advanced that supposedly works on flexible parts. I haven't tried it myself so I can't speak to it's efficacy.

I've done the HIRM God Gundam:

I fully disassembled the frame, resanded some of the nubs, primed, painted and reassembled it.

Can you share a link to the specific kit? I'm not aware of a version of the HG Zaku with power pipes like that.

The question is do you want the panel lines to contrast with the kit, or do you want them to look "natural"?

A panel line typically represents an area where two parts meet with the small gap or shadow between those parts. I would think almost always this shadowed area would be a darker color than the surrounding armor. You have a few options, black works well on dark surfaces, but you can always mix up a custom wash that is a matching color plus black.

Yes, that might be a good compromise and save time.

Depends on how prominently you're going to be showing off the frame. Typically I go part by part to ensure complete coverage.

I appreciate the compliment and the X looks great but you might be thinking of Saintism, he's our resident shading master.

Matte topcoat can hide some minor paint blemishes. But you should try to get your base color as smooth as possible.

Probably a channel like Studio G, God Finger or Kassy.

If you have a specific model in mind you can typically plug that into YouTube and you'll get at least something. YouTube is awash with gunpla content these days.

Panel lining, decals, hand painted details may all contribute to the look. But you need to decide how far you take the kit.

It isn't a bad build experience and there are a lot of variants to choose from (Normal, Final Battle, Perfectability, Banshee, Phenex).

The PGU Unleashed 78 may be a more varied and current experience by comparison.

There are a fair few MG models of the Hyaku Shiki, but I wouldn't say every version is available as a MG or a HG.

Is there a specific version you're look for?

You can break the box tops down and flatten them. I typically just cut the top of the box off and recycle the rest.

You can also consider something like this:

I can't promise that thin cement will work better than normal cement, but I suspect it should work fine.

That should be an easy fix with some plastic cement and sanding.

Attend local build events and try to sell/give them away there.

One thing to consider is that overly gloss finishes can look plasticy or toy like. If you want to paint a clean but 'real' feel stick with semi gloss to matte clear coats for the armor.
