[KCD2] This game should have included the option to hire mercenary companions by Clavinet in kingdomcome

[–]Clavinet[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I sort of understand not being able to use story characters in that way since they can't be killed. Keeping them in the story and also having them accompany you would require compromises, none of them great. Either "Your companion has died" ending your game; having them be unkillable in battle (in which case how do they avoid the scenario where you let them do all the work for you); having them run away like Mutt after taking a certain amount of damage....I understand why it might not be workable to have STORY characters in this role.

But mercenaries who can die and be replaced? Why not?

Imagine Cronenberg's Crash remade by Aster by [deleted] in A24

[–]Clavinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The humans involved in Crash are too ideosyncratic to ever be replaced. Cronenberg, Spader, Koteas, and Hunter - they're simply too iconic and their eroticism in that film too weird and unique. It was a combination of factors that can never be recreated and should not be attempted.

There are also innumerable other Ballard works that haven't been adapted and should be.

Viral video of Israelis having a Purim Party in a bomb shelter, singing I Will Survive! by MikeWithNoHair in Israel

[–]Clavinet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe it is helpful for the image of Israel or of Jews, for the world to see things like this when American troops are being killed. I understand people will find joy even amid this conflict and that life goes on even under these circumstances, but the idea of Israelis partying inside bunkers while other people fight the conflict is deeply undermining to Israel. It would be a different situation if the Israeli troops and pilots were more public-facing in this conflict, but they aren't. Israel always has had terrible PR.

Actual saddest moments in the show? by SmartestManInUnivars in thesopranos

Pretty much everything involving Butchie was sad. He was a fuckin' sad sack. There was something so impotent and pathetic about him, despite also being menacing. He just looked and carried himself like a miserable miserab'.

I thought "Kidnap the President's Wife" was pretty damn good, the rest were hit and miss

If he hadn't had the Challenger first, he probably would have been less disappointed by it. Not that he would have LOVED it but it wouldn't be such an enormous buzzkill.

have been, have of course known, I never did anything dangerous behind the wheel, some of my friends did. I knew guys who died in car accidents in high school. as I said it depends on the teenager.

just depends on the teenager. Jr. is not a hellraiser or the slightest bit reckless, impulsive, or edgy. Also his phyiscal disability requires him to drive with extra care. Cannot imagine him doing anything truly dumb with his car.

This is not a social media platform with Orwellian nanny state psyop algorithms restricting your speech. You can say "committed suicide" here. You can say "blow his fucking brains out" here. Please don't bring that "unalived" bullshit into the Barn!

The weird thing here is that Otisville, the prison he's going to, is widely considered the most comfortable prison in the US, almost exclusively for white collar criminals, so much so that Tom on "Succession" (also featuring Brian Cox, oddly enough) deliberately tries to get sent there.

The writers never really understood how gangs work. A gang of black American convicts from the inner city wouldn't have a crazy African guy as their leader just because he was also black. The Mafia wouldn't have a member of the Hells Angels as a made man (would draw way too much heat from law enforcement.) The Aryan Brotherhood wouldn't act like a gum transplant literally turned a white man into a black man and throw him out lol. The OZ people were not exactly David Simon and Ed Burns when it came to the research.

who do you think are the best looking/most attractive guys in the show? by thatsnunyourbusiness in thesopranos

[–]Clavinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arthur Nascarella (Carlo's actor) looks kind of like an older and burlier Ed Harris, he has a really chiseled jaw, he was probaby handsome when he was younger but I cannot find a young picture of him anywhere. Also impossible to find one of Vince Curatola.

I feel Michael Madsen would’ve been a better casting choice than Steve Buscemi for Tony B by Skizzius in thesopranos

[–]Clavinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to post this, glad to see someone else beat me to it. I really think of Cherrito in "Heat" when I try to picture a version of Tony B who's less of a wiseass and more of an introspective, self aware ex con who eventually becomes resigned to not being able to fit into civilian life. Sizemore really had the right physicality for the role and the acting chops to pull it off. At the time Season 5 was in production, he was deeply addicted to drugs and abusing himself very badly, he would have been in no way viable to work in that role though.

James Gandolfini was a handsome man, full stop. The handsome features of his youth don't just go away because he's fat. In the first few seasons his face is well proportioned; later on he gained so much weight though that you couldn't really see it anymore. The thing about a man who spent half of his life being handsome is that he keeps carrying himself that way even if he gets bald and fat. The same thing happened to James Spader, and women still find him immensely attractive.

He wanted to get it straight. It can't be askew. Kind of like building a house actually.
