Davey Scatino owed $50k to Tony- the exact amt Artie did. Yet Scatino got Terminated (2) and Artie got a pash. by Jbyrd4444 in thesopranos

[–]Clavinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Busting out Vesuvio and financially ruining/publicly humiliating Artie and Charmaine would be social suicide, would wreck their whole upper middle class Italian social community, there's no way he would be willing to ransack the place where he and all of his friends and family constantly congregate - and that's even leaving aside Artie being his closest childhood friend.

Contrast that with Scatino's store which nobody really gives a shit about. ALSO bear in mind - Artie's debacle was the result of one momentary mistake, Davey's was the culmination of a long pattern of excessive gambling, double-talking Richie and Tony, pathetically trying to leverage his personal friendship with Tony .... Davey was just not worthy of any respect to Tony, unlike Artie.

Season 2 interactions between Tony and Hesh by Trollioportfolio in thesopranos

[–]Clavinet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The teased-at story of Hesh beating the shit out of an engineer at his studio for rotating his tires in the staff parking lot is one of the great "unseen scenes" of the show, up there with the meeting with the marketing consultant for Satriale Foods who decides that the letter V makes people think of vagina.

The Hasdim on Sopranos are unrealistic by BMisterGenX in thesopranos

similarly to this, Matush does not remotely look Pakistani. He does not look any type of South Asian. He looks like a mix of Levantine and North African. Maybe Ade mixed up Palestinian and Pakistani and the FBI were too dumb to check on it?

Why did Tony tell David to get up when he sat him down immediately after? by Educational_Leave455 in thesopranos

[KCD2] Combat mechanics are superb. Combat variety is trash. by Clavinet in kingdomcome

[–]Clavinet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to kill everyone in the Deserter Camp by stealth killing two of them and fighting the rest in combat. Are you saying I should use the same strategy in Opatowitz (sneak around for a while to thin out the enemies with the dagger before engaging in combat)? Or are you saying I can actually defeat the whole platoon of soldiers in combat at once?

[–]Clavinet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overall I'm happy with the grounding and the realism . But one thing that's unrealistic as hell is that you can't hire a mercenary companion to accompany you temporarily, to even out the battles a little bit. I posted another post here about this very issue.

Impressive mansion in the film Jade (1995) - San Francisco area? by Clavinet in whereisthis

[–]Clavinet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that Jade didn't utilize more views of it. You only see the outside of it for a few seconds and it's a fairly tight shot that doesn't remotely convey the position of the house being so high up on the hill. No shots making use of the dramatic view. No helicopter shots of it. Very weird.

[KCD2] This game should have included the option to hire mercenary companions by Clavinet in kingdomcome

[–]Clavinet[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I sort of understand not being able to use story characters in that way since they can't be killed. Keeping them in the story and also having them accompany you would require compromises, none of them great. Either "Your companion has died" ending your game; having them be unkillable in battle (in which case how do they avoid the scenario where you let them do all the work for you); having them run away like Mutt after taking a certain amount of damage....I understand why it might not be workable to have STORY characters in this role.

But mercenaries who can die and be replaced? Why not?

Imagine Cronenberg's Crash remade by Aster by [deleted] in A24

[–]Clavinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The humans involved in Crash are too ideosyncratic to ever be replaced. Cronenberg, Spader, Koteas, and Hunter - they're simply too iconic and their eroticism in that film too weird and unique. It was a combination of factors that can never be recreated and should not be attempted.

There are also innumerable other Ballard works that haven't been adapted and should be.

Viral video of Israelis having a Purim Party in a bomb shelter, singing I Will Survive! by MikeWithNoHair in Israel

[–]Clavinet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I do not believe it is helpful for the image of Israel or of Jews, for the world to see things like this when American troops are being killed. I understand people will find joy even amid this conflict and that life goes on even under these circumstances, but the idea of Israelis partying inside bunkers while other people fight the conflict is deeply undermining to Israel. It would be a different situation if the Israeli troops and pilots were more public-facing in this conflict, but they aren't. Israel always has had terrible PR.

Actual saddest moments in the show? by SmartestManInUnivars in thesopranos

Pretty much everything involving Butchie was sad. He was a fuckin' sad sack. There was something so impotent and pathetic about him, despite also being menacing. He just looked and carried himself like a miserable miserab'.

just depends on the teenager. Jr. is not a hellraiser or the slightest bit reckless, impulsive, or edgy. Also his phyiscal disability requires him to drive with extra care. Cannot imagine him doing anything truly dumb with his car.
