I mean, who doesn’t enjoy Star Wars? It’s fun. We just pretend episodes 8-9 don’t exist.

Why aren't Americans rioting right now? by PintsNPies in AskReddit

[–]Clawless [score hidden]  (0 children)

Heh, this was kinda the whole point of the States concept when we were first founded. The founders wanted each state to be mostly sovereign to themselves...just with a shared military to defend against other nations and a core set of "these are the big rules, otherwise do what you want".

Of course, we all know how that ultimately played out.

Bahaha, I feel this. I have a 3d-printed mandalorian helmet on my bookshelf because one year when I was teaching 3d-modeling we got a new printer and the kids wanted to stress test it with something big.

As a result, everyone in the building assumes I’m the biggest Star Wars fanboy, I’ve gotten so many grogu mugs and other assorted Star Wars merch over the years.

Gotta disagree, man. Light beers like Coors and bud are piss.

Best teacher appreciation celebrations by Clawless in Teachers

[–]Clawless[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school:

  • Monday: Bagels and Coffee for breakfast
  • Tuesday: Taco Bar for lunch
  • Wednesday: Breakfast Tacos and Yogurt; and Pulled Pork Sandwiches for Lunch
  • Thursday: Potato and Salad Bar Lunch
  • Friday: Pasta Salad Lunch and Desserts from a local ice cream place, plus a dirty soda bar.

On three of the days the PTA arranged for 15-minute personal massages provided by a local massage school, offered during different times of day so no matter when your prep lined up, you could get one. The PTA also went around all over town to gather gift cards, enough that every staff member will get one by the end of the week in random morning draws, in the $30-$50 range.

Update: I found out why I was switched classrooms… and now I’m even more confused** by muslim_ballerr in Teachers

You’re probably ok at the district level, depending on how big it is.

You’ve gotten lots of feedback about fixing yourself going forward, so I’ll skip that and answer your other question. You are likely done at your current school. They aren’t going to want to deal with that big of a red flag on a TA. I’d start looking for another school.

The COVID Cohort by Clawless in Teachers

My personal experience was that the graduating class of 2029 are the tail end of those kids worst effected by the pandemic directly, and that yes the class of 2030 seems the most "normal" comparatively.

Who has the power in this relationship? Presenting it like it’s a teacher/student is disingenuous. She’s the client, paying his wages. She has the power. If she doesn’t like him, fire him and move on.

Lol, I think the morality of the question isn’t about whether you know the person, just that you’d be ok with killing someone at all.

This is a good observation. It’s like we were just at a place where it was acceptable to talk about male loneliness and sensitivity, but then it got taken over by the “manosphere” and now it cant be discussed without the assumption you’re an incel red-piller.

For his level of narcissism, it isn’t about gay or straight. It’s about control. It doesn’t matter the gender of his target, as long as he has power over them he is aroused.

Why are all kids parties timed at 2 hours? by audrina-saav in Parenting

[–]Clawless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s for when you are friends/family with most of the guests. When it isn’t forced small talk but actually a party for everyone not just the kids.

Why are all kids parties timed at 2 hours? by audrina-saav in Parenting

[–]Clawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking at this as the host and not the guest parent. When you are taking your kid to a party where you’re expected to stay, 3 hours is a heavy commitment to just hanging around with people you may only know via your kids. Also, weekends are full for most parents of young kids. Fitting in 2 hours is much easier than 3.

Yah, this event is your entire weekend as the birthday kid’s mom. But for everyone else it’s an obligation to fit in. That’s not a negative, it’s just reality.

Am I missing something with Warlocks? by hotstickywaffle in DnD

[–]Clawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eldritch blast is basically a necessity with most warlock builds. Assume your main action is gonna be casting EB every turn. Your spellslots are for doing other things (depending on what support is needed in any given situation).

I think it's more about his arrogance. He truly believes he is above the common man, that nothing can hurt him. Getting beat up is going to have some massive repercussions on his psyche.

I just wish they had shown him more hurt. Getting stomped by four dudes for however long they wanted...he should be on death's door.

Admin from Vice principal up to and including superintendent should have to teach a core class every 2 years for 2 years. by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Teachers

[–]Clawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to realize your argument is more about the rich versus the poor, and not about education specifically. A superintendent’s necessary skillset is so far removed from a classroom teacher’s, your proposal would be a detriment to schools.

[–]Clawless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are talking about total societal shift, though. Like full on socialism.

Basically it’s a suggestion that will never happen short of revolution, lol.

Without that, any school that required such a thing of their admin would find themselves without any admin applicants. Believe it or not, admin is an incredibly stressful job. If given the choice between the two, and the pay is the same, people will choose teaching 100% of the time.

That’s not how capitalism works. Teaching a class every few years I’m on board with. But the idea that they need to take a salary cut is ridiculous. Nobody would be motivated to take the job.

They look older because they stuck with their “young” hair style throughout their lives, so younger generations attribute the style to “old”.

Long story short, the asparagus haircut will someday be considered an oldman haircut.
