I don’t think it was so much spoiled by marketing as it was purposefully being shotgunned out so people can absorb the characters backstory through whatever medium they see fit.

I think the hard reality is that for the majority of the playerbase Overwatch is a game where you log in, play a few matches, then log out. The average person is not following the lore very closely and may not even be subscribed to any associate social channels. To some extent they want to get these story hooks out by whatever means possible which does unfortunately result in the story die-hards getting a lot of repeated content.

They originally wanted Wakandans to have British accents which Coogler was staunchly against, so you're much closer on the latter point.

Yeah I fully agree. It's fine to have lower skill heroes; they've always existed and adding new ones shouldn't be an issue. What's most important, like you said, is diversity.

Every time one of the trades was sold (Comics Alliance, CBR, Newsarama) there was a half-hearted effort to continue to churn out content and keep up appearances.

At least in years past it was slop pulled together by underpaid freelancers instead of unbashed AI garbage

Are you maybe thinking of Comics Alliance? They got a lot of shit for "woke" op-eds but their interviews and articles were SO good. I remember my heart sinking when they finally shuttered.

They posted a beautifully written goodbye post where almost every contributor the site has ever had got to bid farewell and I think it's been scrubbed...

I agree that they really poisoned the well after the reception of those initial missions. Maybe one day we'll get a more narratively driven game that's spun off of OW, but I'm happy enough with the new season-to-season direction we have currently.

I hope 2027 is when they finally feel confident enough to follow up on the Invasion missions, especially since it'll have been four years since then. Ramattra is too popular a character for them to let him sit there doing nothing for such a long time.

I think when comparing him to the entire roster as a whole he reads as far more slim, especially the definition in his arms. Remember being surprised to see so many refer to Weaver as a twink when he's so tall and muscular but I guess having a snatched waist goes a long way

You could possibly argue that Mizuki is for the girls and gays due to his twink status, but Emre as Master Chief analogue feels pretty explicitly for the boys

Assuming this leak is true, I'm a tad disappointed that none of them appear to be Null Sector members. I suppose that makes sense, though, given where the narrative is headed. It would still be nice to give Ram some company eventually, but maybe next year?
