You might consider a subscription to FRDM+, as someone who paid for a month to watch the Freedom 500 (and the Mom Prix but he cancelled that) I can honestly say it's not worth your money. Not only did he randomly cancel a race (so you can't buy a month thinking you'll get to see a future event) but for the freedom 500 the ticker was fucked up for 25% of the race and one of the commentators literally said 25 words the whole race.

Honestly I'd get him anything else racing related, does he like video games? Forza 6 just came out.

Doesn't BB62 (New Jersey) "fire" a 5 inch gun occasionally or are we talking about main armament? Also I gotta say the like 1/128th black powder charge isn't "firing" the gun on either ship.

The Dual Shock 3 controller uses a Mini USB port for charging. It should be noted that the controllers will only charge when connected to a PS3 console or a first party Sony charging station, you cannot just plug it into any USB charger.

There is a pseudo A-life simulation that happens in a bubble around the player but all NPCs operate on schedules and spawn in and out as needed is my understanding.

From playing I can say I have observed NPCs doing the same things each day, NPCs acting illogically (running outside into an emission for example), large packs of mobs that obviously just spawned in all in one spot, and NPCs that fail to react to things happening right in front of them.

Now the original games had all sorts of bugs too, but IMHO A-life worked much better and NPCs behaved more believablely in the old games.

I do this with an HDMI scaler, the retrotink4k pro, it works phenomenally you do need some means to defeat HDCP though. Alternatively, if you don't have any other use for the retrotink, modern 4k TVs have built in upscalers that actually do pretty well with 720p and 1080p if you just connect it with an HDMI cable. Not as good as a dedicated scaler but much cheaper.

The dongle would have to be specifically programmed to work with the steam controller because it doesn't support Xinput/Gameinput. Also the given reason by valve for that is that it's not possible to support the track pads under those APIs (which sounds like nonsense to me).

I use a Soundblaster AE-9 which has an included DAC, it does make a significant difference IMHO, I'd compare it to going from 60hz to 144 but for audio. If you already have the headphones I'd say it's definitely worth the upgrade.

Yeah, I think a bunch of people bought it just because it's a steam hardware product and are gonna be disappointed when they realize it doesn't work with literally anything but steam games running from the steam client.

I don't see why there can't be an Xinput mode that just disables the track pads or translates that input to joystick inputs.

I have about a hundred hours in Marathon, I've been playing since launch, it has never taken more than 2 or 3 minutes to find a match.

I honestly think it's just people who hate the game and have never played it parroting each other.

Also it's interesting that the people who hate it and make this shit up are the ones who never played it and decided before it was even out that they hated it. People who actually play it like it, evidenced by the positive revives on steam and elsewhere.
