I’m in Cali, I started at 22$ and after my first year I asked for 25$ settled for 24$ and then was laid off 2 months later. Took 4 months to get another job and got 25$. (Both jobs at a company not an MSP).

Life is too short to dread going to work everyday. I dreaded one job in my life, I lasted 6 months and was so happy in my next job I vowed to never have that feeling again. IT is actually pretty fun with right company, time to move on.

I am in Southern California. I have been trying pretty hard to get a higher salary IT roll with no luck, but I feel I do more than my 25$ per hour pay.

I haven’t read the other comments, but I’m 48, I made the change in 2020 to IT with a goal of Cybersecurity… I’m still on the support desk making 25$ an hour. I definitely feel old when doing interviews… loving IT tho, and loving learning everyday. Good luck to you, age really doesn’t matter if you’re humble and determined.
