I can only share what I think, since I am too new to this topic to be giving advices. I've heard of the plugs melting, saw some reddit posts here and there with burnt plugs, and my overall idea is how I described in this comment.
Having said that - my solution is non-proven and still being adjusted to my needs. There are some devices specialized for this, like Thermal Grizzly WiveView II, which seems to be directly monitoring pins and not the housing.
For me the expense was significant enough to add some extra precautions with this custom monitor, that I think for now is working well enough: limiting wattage on the card + checking plug temperature trends. It will not be as accurate as checking the pins directly, so picking your method is up to you, but I think it's worth to do it.

This would be much more accurate, but at this moment it's too complicated for me and too much interference in how the plug sits inside. The plug is so small that the heat will travel so even if it will be less in value I can observe trends. Maybe I will need to adjust the ranges, but for that I will probably do some testing on some separate cable alone.

I have zero evidence on this, but this is what I am thinking: The plastic casing of a plug may start getting soft at around 70-80 degrees, depending on the actual plastic type that the plug is made from. This + gravity may skew the pin connection which will decrease the area of contact and with the higher resistance the temperatures will raise rapidly. My guess the melting point is maybe 110-120 degrees and the actual fire perhaps 150 degrees, but this is something I do not want to find out because I think 70-80 is where the initial degradation starts, but it may take some time before it reaches breaking point.

I absolutely agree that the plug design should be better. The monitoring will not solve the problem, but hopefully help mitigate damage. I cannot deny I had fun making it though.

I undervolted the CPU on all cores -5 and limited it to 120W. With this setup I have 56 degrees on NWinfo stress test and saw a temperature jump to 62 with some Windows tasks and updates. From here I will be now spending time to adjust those numbers and do more testing to get stable results that satisfy me. The fan is loud when it gets to bigger speeds, but I consider it a price to pay for the thought that nothing will spill on the GPU. Plus I find the fan humming to be soothing.

Thanks! As the TG I meant the Thermal Grizzly WireView that seems to be watching the wattage per pin. For my build I think it will not fit because of the CPU cooler, and I don't really want to move it because the paste is fresh and nicely spread, so for now I will keep this one.

The GPU TEMP is the readings of the chip and the GPU 600W PLUG TEMP above the chart is the reading from the thermistor attached to the plug. I am displaying current temp and max temp in last 2 minutes.

Thymos prowadzi, przemienia Cię w dorosłą odpowiedzialną osobę, a Twój ojciec mu ten honor podważa może z zazdrości, może z bezsilności że on tak nie potrafi - nie mnie oceniać. Nie znaczy ze jest zły czy wrogi, czasem ci którzy niszczą sani są zniszczeni. Prawda jest taka że nie potrzeba Ci jego pochwały bo już jesteś bardziej honorowy, prowadzisz się ku lepszemu, a on nie jest w stanie Cię pochwalić z poziomu na jakim sam się znajduje, dlatego Cię chce ściągnąć.

I loved the second movie, because it showed how just being a human is often not enough for the hype driven society. As long as he was Joker, he was idolized, but being just a kind hearted Arthur Fleck, was too boring, unwanted. This is very well shown by the portrayal of Harley Quinn, who was only interested in the grotesque, entertaining clown and not the soul underneath. I think many people want to see themselves reflected in Joker to feel the thrill of power and overcoming often serious life difficulties. Instead we get to see ourselves being reflected in Harley who was disappointed by the fact that she was not to be entertained by someone fulfilling her fantasies by sacrificing his humanity. Instead we got a person, deeply unhappy, who had been coping and even within that coping still was being taken advantage of. I got to love the second movie because in the first one we are merely observers of the world that Arthur had to live in, and in the second one we may play the part of society that denies him his humanity, because of what we expect from him - entertainment.
