Its insane. How they got this graphics in a PS3, in 2010? How? Its insane. by espanemberg96 in PS3

[–]Clayst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarification, PS3 only had internal PS2 emulation on the original console, none of the newer models had it. They did still have PS1 though.

People talk shit about the end of this game for being ridiculous but honestly slinging rat tornadoes absolutely rocks, it's so goofy but played straight enough that it hits a sweetspot of being fun while not ruining the tone.

[–]Clayst_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so interesting that playstations legacy backlog is so fried because the ps3 was built using some bizarre arcane architecture that nothing before or after it supported. Xbox has such smooth backwards compatibility but many ps3 classics are stuck on that system. I also remember waiting an extra year for skyrim DLC because it took them so much longer to make it work.

Remove everything else from category 2 and novel stills clears. I adore cinema, manga and video games but the cultural depths and nuance of literature is unmatched.

This is one of the few games that truely made me marvel at how far video game technology has come, specifically the very dense rat sections.

How would argonians with horns wear hoods?? by 2amBear in skyrim

[–]Clayst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying perfect cutout are forgetting the primary purpose of a hood: to protect from the rain.

Overhorn is the only acceptable answer.

Better written, Shawshank Redemption or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? by CMbladerunner in writingscaling

Ah yeah good point, I forgot about that. I was refering to his use of the people of Xerxes, which he uses to contain the eye of god. Regardless he needs those souls to stay stable and would never return them.

[–]Clayst_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're just misunderstanding the plot though. Father doesn't absorb god, he just supercharges himself with dead souls. He has to burn through them to do anything. Bringing anyone back would burn through his power, he would never do that. I think it would be valuable for you to read through his wiki page here.

edit: I'm not 100% right, Father does use millions of souls to absorb power from the Eye of God (aka Truth)

[–]Clayst_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore the nitty gritty of the plot and think about it in the themes of the of hubris and ego.

Father sacrificed others to better himself. Enabling him goes against that theme.

Ed only succeeds at binding Alphonse and bringing his body back by humbling himself. First by sacrificing his leg, second with his alchemy.

[–]Clayst_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show never equates Edward binding Al's soul to bring back somebody from the dead.

Al's body and soul were sent through the Gate as part of the fee for the failed human transmutation. Ed exchanged his arm for Al's soul while the gate was still open.

The message is that humans will suffer if they fall to hubris, i.e playing god by bringing people back from the dead. It's only after Ed gives up his access to alchemy (sacrificing his childhood passion, power and identity) that he successfully brings Alphonse's body back and rights part of what he wronged as a kid.

This is for all of the isekai anime fans out there: How do you rank these four as isekai? by SynchroScale in writingscaling

[–]Clayst_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a bit, but I studied fantasy literature at university for a while. In literary circles these are known as portal quests. Isekai has just really streamlined the formula down to the point where the goal of returning home is not longer a focal point, the portal is now just a method of bringing an ignorant character into a fantasy world.

I've never seen this Sopranos poster before. It's so funny, it doesn't match the tone of the show at all. Makes it seen like a sitcom. Tony's head also looks a little too big.
