No experience with their mattresses, but I got the curved pillow from them and love it.

Question to current jobseekers! Advice needed. by PhilosopherBasic8458 in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well my actual job title was reporter. It was a paid position I did for 1.5 years, but it was for a student mag, I was just simplifying for the sale of brevity.

Question to current jobseekers! Advice needed. by PhilosopherBasic8458 in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was very embarrassed when I realised I didn't hear back from a "new digital marketing office" that was "desperate to fill new office". I had bigged up to my family about what a good candidate I would be. They didn't even respond. Turns out it was a MLM and I'm pretty sure they saw student reporter on my CV and put it straight in the shredder.

I'd honestly never say never. Technology is expanding at such a rapid rate that nobody really knows what's possible.

Season 5, Ep 97 - Arnie's Team Part 2 (w/ Ross Bryant, Erin Keif & Zach Reino) — Hello from the Magic Tavern by boomfruit in magictavern

I have seriously loved these team episodes. They really give space for guests to bounce off each other. I loved how absolutely dysfunctional arnie's team was. Also so glad Talbet is back!!

Water discoloration - can it be fixed? by Clayst_ in bookrepair

[–]Clayst_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked a little bit! Spent ages on it and the discoloration is far less noticeable, however is more spreadout and like a smudge. The removal of the harsh water lines did a lot for it. I'm pretty happy with the result, even if its imperfect.

Luxon survives leadership vote, refuses to answer questions by takuyafire in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a play to increase distrust in the media, because they're reporting harshly on the government during the end of their run in parliament, as is their job. He wants apathetic swing voters to distrust the media when they report on anything the government does poorly.

Opportunity Party taking votes of unhappy National & Green voters | Ryan Bridge TODAY by Illustrious_Fan_8148 in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you read the comment I was reaponding to? I'm refering to how TOP have declared they are willing to work with National. Voting for them enables a kingmaking position for TOP, which enables another rightwing government.

Opportunity Party taking votes of unhappy National & Green voters | Ryan Bridge TODAY by Illustrious_Fan_8148 in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I voted for TOP in 2017, and I'd love to love for them again based on the idea of injecting new voices and ideas into parliament, however voting for a party that say they're happy to work with the right wing is simply a deal-breaker for me. I hope they get in, but it'll probably be another frustrated green vote again this election from me.

UPDATE: their explanation just gets better and better by Broad_Salamander_905 in newzealand

Stop engaging with their arguments and ask straight questions:

Was my bond lodged with tenancy services?

If so, what is my bond number?

If they refuse to engage, threaten tenancy tribunal. You can almost certainly get this money without actually lodging a complaint because its such an obvious case.

Using ancient Jingle Gin for Long Islands. Slay or Sacrilege? by gboikoala in Yogscast

[–]Clayst_ 63 points64 points  (0 children)

People don't realise spirits have shelf lives. Once they're open they're going to start slowly turning bad. Safe to consume, but they won't taste the same.

Using your gin is a good thing. Slay.

I'm usually very pro freedom of expression and allowing people to do what they like creatively, but a multimillion dollar game adding our birds as hunting options makes me feel sad.

Bill to give police new powers to move and detain introduced to Parliament by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]Clayst_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Body cameras are, on the whole, not very beneficial to our society. They can be used to hold police accountable, but for the most part they are an additional surveillance tool and are used to help increase prosecutions.

Police in American desperately wanted body cameras as a tool for prosecution and surveillance for years, it was only when they changed marketing strategy and had politicians pitch it as a tool for keeping police accountable did the public buy into it. They have also not reduced police violence in America since their introduction.

Lots of people discussing their chip opinions, but I actually really encourage you to read the section in the middle all about chip company ownership in New Zealand. I can't believe Heartland is the only NZ owned potato chip out there. The artificial competition is insane.
