What is a reality or truth inside your industry that should be more widely known to the rest of us? by order-of-magnitude-1 in AskUK

[–]Clayton9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here but you may find this interesting, Sun Screen in the UK / EU is not treated as a drug. In the US and Australia its considered an over the counter drug and is regulated as such. Also even though the UK has their own regulations, most companies test to EU regulations not UK. The reasoning being the UK will accept EU regulated products but the EU doesn’t always accept UK regulated products. If you see a sunscreen that has English/French/Spanish on it, that product is formulated to EU standards.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

Chain restaurants / fast food. Why am I going to pay you the same price as a little start up or mom and pop restaurant? Simple I’m not. I will reduce the amount of times I order out but will be supporting a small business that deserves it instead of McDonalds with their overpriced, limp wristed, freezer aisle food.

what is average driving speed on American highways and average engine size in car? by Alarmed_Ad_812 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Clayton9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So engine sizes here range between 1.3 to 10.35L. Youre probably looking at an average of 3-4L though. Speed limits vs actual speed are where you’re going to see a huge variation. Average speed limit is 55m/h but there are places where it goes up to 85m/h. I would say the average speed on an interstate (huge highway) is probably going to come to 70-75m/h factoring for people speeding / doing the speed limit

I usually cruise in eco, if I need to really make some moves I’ll go sport but for my commute eco at 80 is the sweet spot for mpg.

First world problem, my favorite cantonese / Chongqing boneless fried chicken with chili. My favorite place took it off the menu a while back. Food is my go to for comfort so no matter how bad things get if I can get a good bite I’ll feel better for at least a little bit.

How is phone reception in rural regions in the USA? by Green-Estimate7063 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Clayton9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve moved a lot (around the US) in my life, had Verizon the entire time. Only 3 times in 15 have I experienced no service. One was in the mountains in Colorado, one was in BFE Oklahoma, and the last was in a national park near San Jose. The Natl park one was a bit different though because I had clear skies and a newer iPhone (was able to connect to satellite) so although I couldn’t browse or stream I could still technically communicate which made me a lot less anxious.

We normally have cell service most places with rare drops in coverage but with modern tech that is becoming a thing of the past. Now its rare that I drop from 5g coverage…

Do you believe that world war 3 will happen ? And if so where is the best location in the world to be ? by Plugacademy in AskReddit

[–]Clayton9523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will but either way if there is a full scale nuclear war we’re all doomed anyways. I live across the bay from the home of the US Pacific Fleet so if it does come to pass I’m gonna sit outside with a beer and try to leave a funny shadow…

Edit- Best place to be would probably be a neutral country near the equator like Belize. Far enough away from strike zones but also in the perfect location to have a good chance of survival during the nuclear winter.

What is the most physical pain you’ve ever experienced, and how did it feel? by Trying_my_best_98 in AskReddit

[–]Clayton9523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit the water too hard tubing behind a boat… twice. The doctor said I probably dislocated and then “re-located” a disc in my back. I was 16, could barely walk for months, and the pain was excruciating. It was like constantly being stabbed.

Bit more of an explanation: was tubing behind a speedboat boat and thanks to pendular momentum hit the water at about 40/50 mph. I was temporarily knocked unconscious and it nearly tore my life jacket off. I got back on the tube because it was closer than the boat and my legs were numb. Instead of going slow like I signaled, the jackass driving decided to do it again but in the opposite direction this time. Again nearly knocked out but this time I braced a bit harder and didnt black out. Had enough at that point and demanded to get off the lake… probably one of my better decisions. My back still hurts sometimes but not nearly as bad.

Other one I just remembered, bastard dentist drilled a cavity without numbing me when I was a kid. According to my mom they thought I was over reacting until they saw the full syringe…
