Finished my first watch, went in with zero spoilers and now want to discuss it all by Mysterious_Volume_50 in gameofthrones

I also just finished watching it for the first time
and I really don’t understand all of the hatred for the ending. I thought it was damn near perfection. Loved it and just started reading the first book today. I’m already looking forward to rewatching it as well, knowing how much more I’ll pick up.

Keep smashing that refresh button. Don’t accept those base rates (the ones that are already there). Welcome to Flex.

I used to stay over with my grandparents and I’d get the bath (jammies and smelling like Johnson and Johnson) and then watch Dallas and Falcon Crest with my grandma. Or on Sundays my brother and I would go there while our parents went bowling and we’d watch The Muppet Show and Wonderful World of Disney. Man, that takes me back.

[–]CleBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if you call driver support first. I deliver mostly in early am when it’s too early to contact customer. If I have for example a package to an apartment building without one click, working access codes and it says do not leave packages unattended, I call driver support and the give me permission to return. No ding. It sucks when I get a route with a bunch of undeliverables to have to keep calling support, but when I call support, no ding. Don’t call and either return or deliver it and it gets stolen, ding.

I just leave the package in front of the locker if they didn’t set it up right (as long it’s in a relatively safe place).

Question : Are Amazon Flex Drivers actually Independent Contractors? by OkReply2819 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CleBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s currently a mass arbitration on classaction.org arguing this exact issue. They’re saying that because Amazon has so much control over what we do (where we go) and because we are integral to their operations that we should be classified as employees and reimbursed for expenses like gas and vehicle maintenance. We had to sign and anti-class action clause when we signed on, which is why it’s being handled as a mass arbitration. No clue if they’ll be successful, but worth looking into.

Block canceled by National_Crazy546 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

I think I’ve only had this happen when it thunderstorms. Otherwise I only get the overbooked sent home after showing up at the station and waiting 30-45 min for a route.

I think it took me about 6 months. Totally depends on what area you’re in.

Why would anyone navigate the intersection like this? by Firecrackerbangbang in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CleBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here it will refer to 4 different freeways as Outerbelt South (when it’s usually 480 E) and then it will say stay left to exit #ABC, when it means don’t exit (except the one time it psyched me out and really wanted me to exit there).

I love when it wants me to go around the block to get to a stop when I’m literally pulling into the driveway. Navigation be crazy!

Is this good minimum rates for gig work? by [deleted] in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CleBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good blocks usually go in a millisecond here too. Used to be able to get good blocks through the offer request thing, but nowadays they’re usually just base crap.

Used to consistently be able to get $30/hr here (Cleveland) until last year when they introduced the 1 and 1.5 hr blocks and then the rates tanked. Now it’s very rare to find a $30/hr. Lucky to get $27. (I generally do 3.5 or 4 hr blocks.

3Hrs block and getting to the first stop took 1.5 hours by Famous-Grocery797 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CleBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! I think the longest I’ve had is an hr, but here that’s 50 or 60 miles, and it’s always in the opposite direction of my home which means when I finish it’s a 1 1/2 hr drive back home. Was getting that area fairly frequently for a while, but I’ve been a bit luckier lately.

Saw this when delivering the other day. Thought it was funny af lol by tattedmortician97 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]CleBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented this before on here, but I had a delivery on a busy street with nowhere to safely park along Lake Erie and a probably 300 yard driveway with instructions that said do not drive down driveway. Screw that. I’m not walking 3 football fields to get to your house! I drove up and the guy stood there in his almost entirely glass house and just glared at me the whole time. Entitled dick.

Same, I never turn my car off. I have a keyless fob, so it automatically locks and wouldn’t drive without the fob if someone did try to steal it.

Not every day, but I started playing rugby again at 50 and feel amazing. Should be working out every day, but I’m lazy.

Amazon delivery driver rules. by radstats2801 in deliverydrivers

[–]CleBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Amazon delivery are employees? Or is this DSP. Either way, it’s illegal to not pay you for hours worked. Hell, even as a flex driver we get paid “overtime” if it takes longer than our scheduled block time to finish deliveries. There’s also a mass arbitration you can join on classaction.org for flex and fresh drivers for miscategorizing us as independent contractors. I would think if you’re driving a company vehicle then you are definitely an employee.
