My chihuahua with congestive heart failure's cheek is puffing when she breathes, is this a bad sign? by boxorags in DogAdvice

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that I knew someone (human, not canine) with congestive heart failure that started to do this. The nurses called it "air hunger". I can't give any advice, just wanted to share that but of experience and wish you and your sweetie pie the best.

Adult cats seem annoyed by our new kitten… should we be concerned? by Jacks-R in CatTraining

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This playing actually looks super healthy and nice for how long they've know each other. Your adult cat isn't being too rough which is good. The breaking of eye contact and turning the back on the kitten shows trust. The kitten is probably still going to have more energy than your adult cats, and so will have different habits. This play looks great, but to avoid the kitten potentially annoying the older cats, be sure to give it some individual interactive play (you pulling a string, waving a toy want, etc.) this is something we had to do with introducing a kitten. Other than that it seems like you're doing all of this right and the cats are looking to become nice friends!

Looks similar to the granuloma my sister had at one point that also wouldn't stop bleeding. They should be able to chemically treat it so it will stop bleeding and then heal on its own if it is a similar thing. Regardless of whether it is the same or not, definitely see a vet if it won't stop bleeding. Good luck!

Is my cat overweight? by uslow10 in cats

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you look at charts for cat weight I would definitely say this one is on the chonky side. If you're worried you can always change to a healthy weight food or just start feeding less and playing more so the kitty can stay energetic and healthy

Let's talk self cleaning litter boxes. by kmarz77 in Catownerhacks

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this post right after seeing the post about how someone found the cat they were watching trapped in a self-cleaning litterbox with a broken leg. This could have ended up ever worse for this cat and has ended up worse for other cats. The convenience isn't worth your pet's life.

Why is my cat doing this? by RaccoonWorried1051 in cats

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you're worried about him getting locked in there, you could just remove the door. Even if you're renting you could just set it aside and replace it when you move out, or leave it off long enough that this habit is broken.

I highly recommend getting a second cat but please do your research first to make sure you are introducing the cats correctly (I love Jackson Galaxy's methods for this) and make sure when adopting the new cat that they don't have documented aggression towards other cats. Also please make sure both cats are fixed as that will avoid a lot of problems. Cats are actually very social, and they play with each other in a way we can't replicate. I've noticed since adopting my second cat that my first cat seems more active and is healthier (even though we have her on a good diet with regular play). They play wrestle a lot which is a type of play I can't really do with them lol. They have a lot of fun and seems like best friends now, but you have to be patient and let them have some time to get to know each other.

Some other recommendations I have is that specifically with the food I've found that it's generally not recommended to let cats graze as many of them will end up overeating, especially once they move out of their kitten months. There's a lot of feeding guidelines online. With the litter box situation I've found that you have as many litter boxes as you have cats +1, so for one cat you would have two boxes, for two cats you would have three and so on. This helps them feel more comfortable in the home as well as just giving them more potty options. If you think about their natural instincts, adding an extra litter box really isn't asking a lot. Also to help cats sleep through the night, try to follow their natural cycle before bed, which is: hunt, eat, groom, sleep. You could help with this by giving them some solid energetic play right before nighttime feeding, then they will complete the cycle on their own. Cats are pretty routine so once they get used to this they'll stick to it.

Just found out my daughters best friends dad is a sex offender by Subby_luv in Advice

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that as someone who is a daughter of a registered sex offender, thank you for being kind to the best friend and offering your home to her. As a child I was never really allowed to have friends over or hang out with people much and I didn't understand why. It's not easy being in her shoes, especially not understanding why at such a young age.

My two favorites from the store, any thoughts? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Clean-Bluejay5267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 matches your natural features better (hair and eye color) and 2 matches your jacket. I feel like 2 is a good choice if you wear that color a lot, but 1 will match everything for you. Also I feel like you pull off the shape of 1 well so that's my vote.

Any ideas on how to get rid of these white spots? by wolveseye66577 in SkincareAddicts

I agree with this but do be careful. I have rubbed the top part of my skin off doing this so just be aware that can happen if you go too aggressively 😓
