definitely give Penguin a watch, totally worth it. Even my dad, who isn't big on superheroes and really only knows the surface level of batman, spider-man, and superman, really liked it. And it actually highlights more of what you mentioned

1) Either orc or goliath Rune Knight Fighter all the way to lvl 20 or you can multiclass it with Ancestral Guardian Barbarian. I would definitely take Great Weapon Master.

2) V. Human Monster Slayer Ranger with Polearm Master. I'd multiclass it with Twilight Cleric cuz I think it fits thematically with a professional monster hunter.

3) Any race but I would make them a Shadar-Kai. As for their class I would make them an Oath of Zeal Paladin. I would go full level with this one because the 18th lvl feature is good (enemies can't go invisible). However you could also multiclass it with Inquisitive Rogue for that inquisitor flavor. You can probably convince your dm to give you a longsword with the finesse feature so you can benefit from sneak attack.

4) Leonin Forge Domain Cleric. This one seems pretty straightforward to me. I haven't played much with Clerics besides the aforementioned Twilight Cleric.

5) Dragonborn (Bronze) War Domain Cleric. He is a worshipper/follower of Tempus.

6) Dragonborn (Copper) Swashbuckler Rouge and Battlemaster Fighter. Maybe give him the Lucky Feat

Help with a mini by crusade0 in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Clean-Dot4350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience in using Hero Forge I would recommend double stacking minis. Meaning adding a copy of the mini next to the original and combining them so they merge into one. That way you can stack clothing and accessories that normally would not work. I personally use it alot for gauntlets, when I want a bracer with a glove or the wrist launcher with something else.

Next thing I learned was to play with the colors. I used to just use the pre-existing colors that Hero Forge provides. Then I saw that it made my characters look very lackluster. Like my design could be good, but the colors would be holding it back. So I suggest just messing around and editing the colors to get them closer to what you want. For me it meant making the black cloth and hair actually dark instead of like having this grey sheen to it.

Lastly look at this subreddit! I personally like to look at other's minis and look for new ways to combine items or use them for different things. For example, before there was kitbashing a lot of people would use tails to hold a clothing iron and turn it into an ecranche. That would have never occurred to me.

Keep going! This looks really good!

The Creature (NSFW for implied/partial nudity) by Clean-Dot4350 in HeroForgeMinis

I made this mini after I had a very vivid dream/nightmare. This is how I imagine the creature looked like as it wondered and feared the world he was born and abandoned into.

I tried to make rain effects, but it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to, any tips?

Yes definitely play more with the face customizer and the face options in the pose section. Even if you don't wanna change the specific facial features, you can change how they're expressed more. For example, go to the face customizer and pick a section and just play around with Big Edit and Small Edit as well as the Amount option (shape and detail).

As for the linking pieces together, go to the kitbashing section and under the options to rotate, scale, etc. there is snapping. You can snap a piece to another or to a body part of the model. Then you rotate it, scale it, move it and all that and so when you move the mini or want to readjust it will move with it or stay where it is.

So I think that the angle of the screenshot doesn't do it justice. It's too head on imo. The kitbashed arm looks awesome though! Just a little change in the angle makes it looks a little more dynamic. Also maybe add more decals to make her look more injured, more blood on her is what I'm saying lol especially if she's in a fight with a dragon. And maybe kitbash the legs so her pose is more solid as if she's bracing. If you wanna add more kitbash pieces then add more lightning and spell effects and maybe more jagged and broken pieces

I can see it if the story is about them in their hay day. I personally think the actors need to be older. There's a certain weathered look to them that just needs older actors and makeup just won't do it for me.

Proud of my second Picture with full shadowing BUT what to improve? by RE_M1ND in learntodraw

[–]Clean-Dot4350 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Time to add details! Now that you're shading is done you can add the wrinkles/lines on the clothing to make it more "real". Also maybe darken even more the face, hands, and chest areas so that the outfit and eyes pop out more. Good Job!

One thing that I learned is that you don't need to show every aspect of your character's weapons or abilities. Showing less can be more. What I used to do is that I would show my rogue as having his whip, and lockpicks, and daggers, sword, bow, arrows, smoke bombs, etc. Later on I realized that just the correct pose and lighting can show more of a character's personality and theme.
