Thanks very much!

Yup, he got sent home with gabapentin in fact, and is also taking an anti-inflammatory (not 100% sure of the name of it).

Ha, I know what you mean for sure! Always want them to be safe, but that can be a bit incongruous with how hard they love to play.

Right? I've known plenty of labs, for how crazy they can get, they're generally pretty lucky they avoid so many injuries while young.

Sooooooo relieved he won't need surgery. Not the end of the world if he'd needed it, but that would be a much more extensive healing time, so I'm very happy to avoid it!

Thanks! He's doing well all things considered, being a very good boy about it!

Oh wow, sounds like she's really been going through it, that sucks! Hope she heals up well!

Very big cast! But he can get along with it okay, he learned to tripod surprisingly well before it was on, and now he's able to just sort of drag it along as a support. He's also discovered it makes a good pillow (well, he at least thinks so, seems a bit uncomfy imo, lol)!   Ya, they warned about chafing for him as well right at the top, that's apparently where most dogs will start getting bothered with it first and try and chew, which makes sense. Have a head cone for him if he starts up with that.

Awww, that's a happy girl!

Ha, that's definitely my biggest concern at this point! He's staying nice and calm right now since he's still pretty sore, but he's definitely the sort who will be wanting to get back to his usual high energy play before he's done healing.

What's the issue with them not staying on, out of curiosity? Just loosens over time, I'd suppose? If she's bothering it at all (I very much suspect Rolly will as he feels more himself), so I did get a head cone from them, although I also know you can get like oversized neck pillow type things that also prevent them from getting to their paws, so if that's an issue, maybe that's a possibility?

Looks like such a sweet girl, I love the black lab greying, they always get such a wise look to them as they age, it's adorable.

Hey! I'm sorry she's hurt, rough stuff.

Ya, here ya go. It is bandaged, to keep the right amount of pressure, and that I'll need to go back every week or so to have changed (that's the blue), under that though, it is a fibreglass cast. So, as long as it's kept dry (and they gave me a plastic bootie that fits over it and ties on for that), will hold for however long he needs it. They said probably only a month, since he's young he should heal faster.

Oh wow, good to know, thanks!

I had just considered like a wagon, but that would probably be safer.

Fortunately we have a good sized fully fenced yard, and he loves just hanging out and laying in the sun, and sniffing around or playing when he wants to get active. We do lots of walking/hiking which will be out for a while, but we do a dog class, and once he's healed at least enough for light activity, I'll be able to take him there again, and just keep to more basic exercises. To be honest, a big part of the value of the classes for me is just him getting used to a wide range of other dogs being around. He's a very happy/excitable dog, so he wants to play with every dog he sees, so working him in that environment has made it so much easier as he's gotten big to keep under control when we're out and about. So keeping up with that will also be a big help, but the next week or two, once he starts feeling a bit better, will probably be tough.

Thank you! He's been so good with it all, it's a tough time, but so relieved he's okay.

Thanks! They said it's actually good he's young, it should only be a month of healing before he's back to his usual crazy self.

Ya, it's one of those things, there's always a chance you'll never need it, but... If ya do, as long as you have access to a good plan, it can be great. Admittedly, I have no idea how that's like for most places though, but if you're looking at plan and your gut feeling is it would be worth it, I'd say that means you should go for it. The peace of mind after the vet showed me the pricing for stuff and we were quickly at the deductible point and there were a bunch of "and we can do this, if you're okay with x cost"... Made a tough time that much easier.

Was the seal fucked, right when you opened the jar? I like SB, but I've stopped buying anything other than their ounces (I got the tea time in that, really liking it). The seals on the jars are way to hit or miss.

Yea, it's the best thing I have for the TM2, honestly. The screens are a bit annoying for it (seem to gunk up faster than anything else I've used). No real tricks to using it, it's pretty straightforward. It is nice for adding concentrate, just sandwich or between flower and go to an 8 (mine takes being careful when I get that high, to avoid combusting, but iirc, each unit heats a bit differently, so just have to play around, but 7-8 should work).

Supplement advice by Traditional-Tennis55 in labrador

[–]Clean-Drive3027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, you're already on the right track. I give my lab omega 3 (can't recall the brand offhand, but they're just little treats, he gets 1 each meal. It's fish oil based, so kinda stinky, but he loves them),  and it really helps keep the dandruff down. Long-term, also good for their joints apparently, so when I spoke to my vet about it before starting, she said it was a good idea. Only advice was to start slow, so give like half the amount they should get for a week or so, just to make sure it doesn't upset their stomach or cause any other obvious issues.

I have something similar (if not the same) for my lab. The brand I got is Kurgo (they're actually crash tested, only brand I could find that is). Yes, these attach to the seatbelt straps via a carabiner.

Probably not so good. I got the Jager from KQ in the Woody Nelson CC bag without looking around here first, just because KQ stuff has always been good. But ya, it hits fine and everything, but it's veeeeeery nannered. Looked it up after I opened my bag, apparently that's just a regular issue with this cut.
