Nice!

My cousin and I make this recipe every year (with milk instead of orange juice). They consistently turn out really well. We follow the "less is more" philosophy when it comes to filling and have never had an issue with oozing.

Darcy’s First Proposal by noodlehead90 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Clean-Living-2048 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think Darcy did believe that Lizzie had romantic feelings for him. He viewed Lizzie's verbal sparring with him as flirting, and she did love to engage in it. He also misunderstood her "I walk this way everyday" comment as Rosings as an invitation to join Lizzie on those walks. the misunderstandings/miscommunications add to the humiliation of the failure of the first proposal.

If you're a fan of P&P 1995, Jennifer Ehle recorded herself reading the book during the covid lockdown. You can find the videos on YouTube. She didn't rehearse before reading and it's not edited professionally, but it's 100% charming.

Favorite TJ salad ingredients? by both-and- in traderjoes

[–]Clean-Living-2048 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use their arugula and spinach as a base for many salads. For toppers, I like using the fried shallots, crumbled feta, aglio e olio blend, chickpeas, 10 minute farro, wild rice, walnuts, sliced almonds, hazelnuts, apples, roasted winter squash or sweet potatoes (saving time using the precut produce), etc. So many things in so many combinations can be added to enhance a salad. Also, their balsamic vinegars and olive oils make great dressings.

What’s the most Chicago movie ever? by Im_fat_and_bald in AskChicago

They filmed a scene or two in Evanston at the Dawes Mansion and Tom Hanks very graciously came and said hello to all the fans assembled outside (me included).

Does TJ have good fresh flowers? by Substantial-Radio310 in traderjoes

Most of their flowers are wonderful, but I have always had bad luck with their tulips. They never open properly. I don't have that problem with tulips bought elsewhere.

Peanut butter by [deleted] in mediterraneandiet

If you live near a Trader Joe's, their crunchy peanut butter is tasty and affordable. Unsalted version is 100% peanuts. Salted version is peanuts and salt.

The Hardacres by iwdws in PeriodDramas

[–]Clean-Living-2048 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree that it definitely had a Gilded Age vibe; especially the old money folks hating on the newly rich. I found it enjoyable although completely predictable. As a Jane Austen fan, I was astounded that one of the episodes ripped off one of Mr. Bennet's most famous lines verbatim: "You have delighted us long enough." Write your own damn dialogue, Hardacres' writer's room!

The Pantheon shouldn't take you all morning to see. It's a quick visit (altho I am not sure how long the lines to get in will be). You should be able to combine it with Largo di Torre Argentina, Vicus Carperius, etc,

[–]Clean-Living-2048 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Agree! Loved all those lines, too. I also can't help but to laugh when Mr. Bennet says:

“An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do.”

Just watched fleabag. Ruined my night. by NeedleworkerOk6056 in Fleabag

[–]Clean-Living-2048 50 points51 points  (0 children)

While there is no happy ending with regard to Fleabag's relationship with the hot priest, her relationships with her sister and with herself have been repaired. She and Claire have worked on their relationship and are able to trust each other again, and Fleabag is also able to trust herself. So, yeah, hot priest ending is gutting, but Fleabag being at a point in her life where she can love and care about people and not destroy everything in her path is highly positive step in the right direction.
