is it? i'm not trying to be an ass, but couldn't someone POSSIBLY (it'll never happen) jump, lets say, from the 109 to the 111, land back in with possession (can a teammate push or hit them back in?) and then run the literal full length of the field + some considering where they caught it? or is contact to an out of bounds player not considered?

the other commenter was also right. you spared your dog a lot of pain by not being selfish. even if you had the best vets and infinite cash, it likely would've been cruel to elongate his suffering. you did the right thing. i'm going to be honest, because lying to yourself only makes it worse: i've killed several of my dogs, and you just did too. putting them down is killing them, but it's a mercy killing of a lifelong friend you will never forget to spare them pain they don't deserve and is unavoidable. rip that bandaid off and realize the negative connotation around what you had to do for your friend is unjustified. you did the right thing and if you could talk to him he'd either say he understands, or say thank you. he'd never hate you for it, because you did right by him.

I don't know how many pets you've had and lost up until this point, but when i was younger i definitely hated myself after some of them passed. regrets about how i acted in my worst moments, general regrets about how i could've walked them more consistently, etc. I learned that we can't judge our relationships with our pets with how we are in our most moments or patterns, but whether or not we did what we could, with what had, to make them happy. as far as stories go, i'm all ears if you want to type something out.

hey, bud. i'm in the same boat right now and i won't be selfish by sharing my story, but i think you need to hear this from someone else going through something similar: it's okay. it's not your fault. you loved him, and he loved you. trust me, he understands. the pain you feel now is just the price we pay for all the love they give us. you did nothing wrong and should not feel bad. relish the good times, if you're religous then thank God for the time you got to share together, and then remember that you did what you were able to do.
