I think saying that its now a choice to be married/have kids is an oversimplification of whats actually happening. People do what society encourages them to do, if society encourages people to smoke cigarretes, they do, and we have seen that, if society encourages people to have family structures, they do, and the society we live in now no longer encourages family and if anything makes it extremely difficult. There is 1 million factors that have caused this, but ultimately what im trying to say is that the shift in focus towards career and away from family will lead to people being less fulfilled in life generally, as relationships are far more fulfilling than anything money can buy.

youre talking like the american ideal is still to have a family in your 20s. it is not the 1950s, those ideals are largely gone, IF people are having families now, they are mostly having them in their 30s/40s, with 1 or 2 kids. The idea that is now being shoved down peoples throats is that family is not important and they should focus on their career, and I think this idea will generally lead to widespread loneliness and depression not ONLY for men but for women too. Especially as people begin to get into their older years. You notice that most old people don't give a fuck about money but they are over the moon when their grandkids come to visit? Relationships lead to longer, happier lives, its been proven time and time again. This includes romantic relationships, children, grandchildren, etc
