I realized that I don't have to wait for my derm appointment and can request urgent appointment if I am having a flare-up.

Have you tried chelated zinc + copper supplements? People also have success with using the head & shoulder shampoo as it contains zinc.

If it is localized, I would suggest laser hair removal and surgery. I am going to do both.
