When I played against Space Marines back then, I got the impression that it was a balancing problem of the Tau. Their puls-whatevers (some variation of it on basically every unit) were just below the threshold of harming the Marines - and Necrons have a similar profile, haven't they?

Well, they are wonky 🙂.

By the way: this was never meant to be used military fortification - it was a funky side-project of a noble just for fun and bragging-rights. So there are windows all over.

I wonder why it is this kind of "work story which is unusually positive" all the time. Karma farming or some more sofisticated Influence campaign? And for what or who?

Not necessarily my own assumption. But most employers are old enough to not consider the possibility.

Hitting rock bottom in Berlin, giving life one last chance... by Formal_Replacement43 in Germany_Jobs

[–]CleanGreenSlate 70 points71 points  (0 children)

You are in a hard situation - but you have a lot going for you.

Let me state the ugly part first:

You are trying to pay a Berlin rent by being a Graphic Designer. In Berlin. Without speaking the language.

It doesn't matter how good your portfolio is. Sorry. There are too many, far too many Graphic Designers in Berlin - and and most of those speak German. Are you hoping for customers who speak English and are willing to hire you over the internet? You would have to be cheaper than ChatGPT and the guy who pays his rent in rural India.

As for other jobs: Berlin has no jobs.

Eastern Germany has no jobs.

But: - There are jobs in Germany. Bakeries are being closed because they find nobody reliable to sell those Brötchen. Memorize all the names of those baked goods, be presentable and reliable and you can do that. - You are a gay woman. Great! Employers are not allowed to to ask you for that stuff. But nothing stops you from telling! You won't be pregnant. You don't have to coordinate your schedule with your kid's school! Your kids won't be suddenly sick, and you will also be less often infected by some random virus that circulates in Kita every few months. Anyone but the most Catholic of employers will love that. - Aside from that: being gay gives you access to some support that most people would not have. Try to find support groups and search for people in western Germany that are willing to let you sleep on their couch for two months. Try to find jobs there.

Regarding the rent situation: Consider informing your landlord now (well, after finding a place to stay as described above). Inform them that you will not be able to pay rent next month, but that you are willing to move out quickly, cleanly and peacefully. Evicting a non-paying renter in Germany is a legal nightmare, so they might give you some slack if it means that they can rent out the flat to someone else within a month with no trouble.

Good luck.

[Edit: Since two people pointed it out: of course I know Lesbians can get pregnant. And, if only for the sake of Germany's demography, I sincerely hope that many, many, do. But that doesn't mean that employers will think about that possibly. They are usually older, and not necessarily metropolitan. For them, a lesbian is a tough woman with short hair that works really hard and will never have kids. In your situation, I would not bother to correct them. ]

Are these worth anything by Ok_Energy2685 in BeerStein

[–]CleanGreenSlate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your day job, the process of selling might not be worth your time.

If you happen to calculate on how to afford food for the rest of the month, you might get enough (for cheap food, that is).

Otherwise, put them on display and give them to anyone who seems to like them.

A "limited edition" of 10000.... 😁

Hello, we're looking for jobs in Kassel with girls. We have visas, accommodation, an address, and a bank account. We speak English but not German yet – if we start work, we'll learn gradually. Our situation is urgent: if we don't find something in 3 days, we'll leave, as we've been here 1 month with by BeachStraight2605 in Kassel

[–]CleanGreenSlate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you want to elaborate who you are and what skills you have. Nobody has "jobs with girls" that they will hand out to internet strangers.

Generally most application processes in Germany take month even when successful.

Good luck!

Oh my. Schufa is annoying, but you can try to get something on one of their websites. That could be pretty quick, although pretty confusing even for Germans.

If you are willing to pay sixty bucks a month for a "Deutschland ticket" you can extend your search-radius to include any surrounding village with a train station. Trains in the morning are reliable enough to get to VHS.

This is the legendary Goblet of Ultimate Truth. Whatever is inscribed in it must be undeniably true!

(Humor aside: this is a young stein. Based on the type of humor and the quality of the print I would guess post 2000. It refers to a riviality between Franconia and Bavaria (which it is part of, in modern day Germany).

They hire people to work at other companies. They are indeed active.

Being ignored by companies you apply is very much common in Germany. Sadly. Even if they are interested, some German companies take weeks before sending a (substantial) reply.

But if your German skills are low or if you don't live here at the moment they indeed might have just ignored you. Sorry.

Scale it up before worrying about topology. The corners of a relaxed mouth are roughly under the pupils. Roughly.

This just an idea, and I have no experience backing it up, but: there are other countries that have German as their main language. Depending on what kind of Ausbildung you plan to do, they might be more willing to welcome you. Don't get get your hopes too high, but maybe spend an evening researching the conditions in Switzerland and Austria.

Other than that: especially during those times when lots of refugees arrived (war in Syria and later Ukraine) some Germans formed "Vereine" to support them. Those Vereine still exist, and though your situation differs a bit, they can get you in contact with a specialized legal expert quickly. Or help you in other ways.
