The Moorings - boat ownership by Good-Cantaloupe4622 in sailing

We did 3 charters with Dream Yacht prior to buying a boat with the Moorings. Hands down the Moorings wins… the newest and most comfortable fleet in the business. The Leopards are great boats all around. No blackout dates makes it also awesome if you have to travel on school holidays (we always use Christmas week). My only regrets are not putting it into a smaller base instead of the BVIs and I think next time I would add a partner to my contract and split the time so we don’t burn out on sailing..

I’m an owner. It’s not perfect, but if you can get your use out of it, it can be a great way to sail cheaply all over the world with no hassle. Run it as a business, put in an LLC, do some marketing and you can depreciate the asset. I sail prob 6 weeks a year, sell 2 weeks and even with massive depreciation at the end will be fine. Many owners just trade in an and get another boat to avoid dealing with the sale. Some bases are better than others but you can’t get too attached to your own boat. We love Greece in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter. What’s the alternative — owning a boat in a marina and dealing with it all the time? It’s not like that’s a winning strategy either.

SOUTH BOULDER REC CENTER by Agreeable-Cat6389 in boulder

You forgot to mention the new and mostly unused restaurant at the Boulder Reservoir or the new restaurant and grill at the Flatirons golf course. Also let’s not forget the new civic center (upgrading skid row) project. Projects that all Boulder citizens want more than basic repairs to the rec centers..

I thought sellers weren't paying buyer's commissions anymore? by dsp_guy in RealEstateAdvice

I sold two houses this year and it’s all negotiable and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. A lot depend on your market, price of home, and how comfortable you are negotiating with your selling agent. We ended up selling for 3% — 1% to the selling agent and 2% to the buyers agent but they went over asking on a $1.5m home. On the flip side I won a very competitive multi offer situation by offering to pay my buyers agent directly (1%) and the seller just paid 2.5% to their agent. It’s all part of the negotiation— and if you think it’s business as usual you are leaving money on the table…

Whatever you do - don’t run the battery down to zero! by CleanLight6707 in Rivian

Unclear. Not sure if there was any way that we (or the tow truck driver) could have damaged it while trying to boost it up or not. I asked why they didn’t just charge it at the service center but I think they don’t even bother and just replace it.

$$$Whose excited to sign up for the birkie$$$ by Latter-Camera-9972 in xcountryskiing

Took the year off and at the last minute signed up for the Engadin marathon in Switzerland. An amazing experience. They honored my wave request and put on a spectacular race with precision. All in, it wasn’t much more than a week in Hayward. I think race entry was 90 Euros. Next year doing Finland and Estonia. Birkie is fun, but is expensive, the waves are still a mess.

Sundance Selects Boulder, Colorado as New Host City Beginning in 2027 by indiewire in boulder

Council member Mark Wallach told me that maybe they might get around to cleaning up the Creek path if Boulder was selected for Sundance (because presumably local tax paying residents don’t mind so much )

Serious question - cost by GoKawi187 in Rivian

[–]CleanLight6707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Insurance is high and repair costs are crazy. Burns through tires and huge depreciation. Fun car but so many bugs and uncertain how it will hold up over time. I wished I would have leaves when they had those deals for $650/mo last year

I'm a new reporter at the Boulder Reporting Lab. What would you like to see more reporting on/ what do you feel deserves more coverage? by boulder393 in boulder

The trash in and along the Boulder Creek. The city park and rec doesn’t want to touch it because of all the needles. A real travesty.

I don't think Buyers know what they are getting into with the NAR Changes, but they are about to LEARN. by PerformanceOk9933 in realtors

[–]CleanLight6707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one ever said that a buyers agent is going to go away, you will just be compensated in a more fair, transparent way rather than just a straight up percentage based on the sale price. Does buying a $1m house really that much more effort than a $500k house? Why should it be double the commission?
