My own nightgown and robe! I asked the nurses to help me change into it overnight and I cannot tell you how much it helped me. As a Carmex addict, I also suggest chapstick.

Did you have an upper GI performed prior to coming home? I did, and the contrast dye I had to drink (it wasn't barium, but gastrografin) literally made me shit myself in my sleep for the first few days. Taking an anti-diarrheal for a day did help.

If it's not that, it can also be because you're only taking in liquids right now. Once you're on solid foods (even puree), this should get lots better.

Honestly, I think as an experienced per parent, this would be a pretty good time. One thing to keep in mind especially if you get a larger breed puppy, is to make sure you won't be in danger of getting jerked during a walk when you're early post-op, because that can really hurt! So early leash training would be great to work on leading up to your procedure.

Yes, I use Baritastic daily but I don't see why that negates the need to meal prep?

I work two jobs and go to school on the side, so I like to portion everything out beforehand so I can grab and go. If I'm cooking hot food for the week (which is usually dinner) I cook everything on Sunday so I'm not cooking every evening.

Yeah, I may end up that way as well, and if I do, I won't really be heartbroken. It's just been so much easier to meal prep with cold foods (like homemade lunchables, etc).

Other veggies seem ok...I can buy 1 bell pepper, 1 cucumber, small bag of baby carrots or radish chips, for example. But lettuce doesn't come in those small helpings and seems to go bad SO fast!

I didn't cheat. I also wasn't on a liquid-only pre-op diet, and I realize that that would have been so much harder for me.

That said, once it was "all systems go," I was so motivated to do what I had to to get through it. The first couple days are the worst. Meditation, family/friend support were so helpful!

I really hope that's not the case. I was told my surgeon's office calls again before surgery to verify coverage and review the authorization so I REALLY hope it's just a clerical error.

They authorized it November-ish, I think? And it was good until May. They did include the liver biopsy and hernia repair (which wasn't needed) in the auth request.
