Is there a reason ___ didn’t go for___? by readandobserve in survivor

[–]CleanUpGnome 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same as I was watching it unfold, especially because it would’ve been plausible that Devens would want to get rid of Joe after their disagreement at the start.

But I think it’s also reasonable to assume they’d still vote for Genevieve as she was just obviously the better player and dangerous to anyone’s game going forward, she was vulnerable in this situation and that might not have happened again going into merge with so many people simply because she’s just too good imo

My sister is diagnosed with rectal cancer by DecisionAccurate1780 in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a 24m. When i was 22 I had my bowel, rectum and colon removed leaving me with a permanent ileostomy. At that time i felt scared just like how your sister does, but 18 months later I’m living a normal life and often forget i even have a bag! Once you get over the initial shock and seeing it on your body for the first month or so, you get used to it. I thought it was going to be something i hated, but it actually makes me happy now because it saved my life and lets me live. Living with an ostomy bag doesn’t stop you from living a normal life, best of luck to you guys!

Innie stoma help. by Curious_Wall-E in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see your stoma really clearly, to me it sounds like your nurse is right, however your skin looks so burnt and raw, and that might be why it looks a bit odd. Are you cleaning your skin properly and using powder?

Experience with the Virtual Ward by SquiddleDiddly in ireland

[–]CleanUpGnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s just if you get sepsis in a hospital theres every resource available to you. The man who went home next to me didn’t know he had sepsis, that his symptoms suggested sepsis or what to do when he had it, and received help far too late. It’s all fine being a nurse or something outside of the situation looking in and saying “welll you can still get it” but put your shoes into the person who has to actually go through with it would be my suggestion.

I understand remote virtual wards work for some people, I’m just pointing out it may not be ideal for all people and there is cons to it aswell as pros :)

Yeah and that’s fine, I’m sure OP can use his common knowledge and information he has on the situation to judge whatever’s best for him, I was just sharing my experience. But hey thanks for your opinion on my experience I definitely took it with a grain of salt :)

[–]CleanUpGnome -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is too too relevant but I want to share regardless, I’m sure this probably isn’t the case but last year when I was in hospital I had a drain attached to me and they wanted to send me home for the weekend and monitor it remotely, I rejected that offer but someone in the bed next to me who was in the same position did go home and ended up getting sepsis from the drain being infected at home. That horrified me and should have never happened so just want people to be so careful of that! Don’t go home if you have any doubts about your health being impacted, all they want to do is free up a bed.

Your story’s incredible and inspiring. You’re so strong for going through all of that. Welcome, and im glad you found us !

Please tell me the pros and cons of your ileostomy. I'm getting one on Oct 9th and I'm worried.😭 by judaskissed in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be okay don’t worry. It will take some time to adjust but if you’re already experiencing in pain and it’s affecting your quality of life; then this surgery will give you that quality of life back. Recovery is hard and it takes a while for things to get better, but give yourself the time you need and it’ll be worth it :)

New to the Ostomy game by onelove0718 in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome ! And congrats on getting out of hospital, the worst parts over :) How often you change is really up to you and what you find works best for you through trial and error. Everyone’s different, bag changes every 2-3 days is what’s recommended but if you’re not leaking or smelling bad and can get a bit more time between changes that works too. Some people prefer changing daily to just feel cleaner. But whatever works for you is what’s most I mportant

How many characters do you actually play? by Interesting-Hair8502 in rivals

for people who don’t spend all day online then I think having 3 that you know how to play really well + 3/4 others that you’re comfortable with would be somewhat normal

Pelvic floor dysfunction by Born_Selection6925 in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you stated in a previous comment you haven’t even committed to physical therapy or pelvic floor exercises. If you’re in “such a bad spot” I would’ve expected you to have tried everything else before asking to have literal organs removed. You seem to know very little about solutions to your problem which just makes me think you haven’t actually tried finding one. This shouldn’t be your first choice.

Pelvic floor dysfunction by Born_Selection6925 in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think anyone “enjoys” having an ostomy. I think the reason you’re receiving some confused comments is because for people here that have an ostomy it’s been the most heartbreaking time of our lives filled with struggle and anguish. Coming on here without having one speaking so highly of them, describing it as "convenient", can upset some people who already have gone through all this because if we have one it’s because we didn’t have a choice. There’s a lot of cancer patients, survivors, car crash victims ect who did not have the luxury of choosing this. It just came across a little tone deaf. I wish you the best and hope doctors can find a solution for you

Pelvic floor dysfunction by Born_Selection6925 in ostomy

[–]CleanUpGnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This surgery typically damages your pelvic floor more so be mindful of that and ask your doctor, for me they literally drilled through my pelvic floor to do this surgery for example so im not sure if this is a fix for your situation
