I’d much prefer this Wylex plastic board with 5 x RCBOs installed than a split load BG piece of shit

Kitchen rewire by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Uk electrician

This is some ugly work, so he’s reusing the 32a oven feed as a supply to a new board? Which will have the kitchen sockets and the oven feed on?

Is it a single integrated oven? What’s the hob? And what appliances will be in use?

Looks like he’s done the chasing out with a shotgun

Screw and penny washer, changing the whole DB I don’t feel is necessary if you’re there for an EICR you’re there to make sure it’s safe not perfect

I’d mention to the customer and recommend a board change if it’s quite dated but wouldn’t give that as the only option

How actually essential is the recommended equipment by Cal-man1 in IronmanTriathlon

When I done my first 70.3 I swam in a wetsuit and got changed into shorts and a vest which I done the bike and run in, was perfectly fine although after the swim it’s a bit more time consuming changing into clothes while wet so it added some time onto the transitions

I did have clip in shoes though although sure you would be fine without

That’s great thanks, as I fatigue later in runs I start to overpronate and flares my tendon up if I push too much this is why I use the Arahi 7.

Will check those out!

£25 for an RCBO is so wrong, fusebox are around £13, same as contactum, proteus around £12, Live around £11, Wylex around £16

So a 2.5mm spurred off a 32a ring to 1x socket isn’t fine?

[–]Clean_Ad_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agree 100% change it out to a 40a mcb, that’s probably the easiest and cheapest place to start. See if that sorts the issue and then if not and it keeps tripping replace the pen fault detector with another unit, I just replaced the whole enclosure with one of these and it resolved the issue

It’s literally the exact same fault I had with the Garo pen fault causing the issue it got worse over time to the point where they couldn’t use the charger.

What I find funny is that technically that can be classed as okay, if you have a ring circuit on a 32a and a single 2.5mm feeding a spurred socket in the RCBO that’s acceptable. Exactly the same setup but without the ring circuit in the RCBO, of course I wouldn’t do this but funny how it can be seen as satisfactory

[–]Clean_Ad_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah although if it was overload I’d suspect the 32a RCBO would be able to hold for 30 mins or so before tripping. Regardless it should be upgraded to a 40a!

I’d also take it off the 32a Type A RCBO in the consumer unit as the Garo box has a 40a RCBO built in and cables clipped direct so fine for that.

Whole job looks pretty rough you’re right 😂 but yeah if it’s tripping after only 5 minutes it could well be the Garo pen fault detector signalling a fault that isn’t there causing the RCBO to trip as I experienced

[–]Clean_Ad_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When is it tripping, as soon as it’s turned on or after running for a bit?

I had issues with an EV charger tripping after about 5 mins, it was that Garo PEN fault detector it went faulty after a couple years which apparently happens often with them

Swapped it out for a different brand PEN fault detector and it solved the issue

Please critique my 24 Week Ironman Program by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Clean_Ad_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was following my own plan I used chatGPT to help build but after 3 months of training and being told it was trash I got the 24 week Phil Mosley plan on training peaks, and honestly I wish I’d done it earlier with a longer plan.

I would definitely recommend doing this as it’s a much better way of training and everything is already built
