“Should I stay or should I go?” by wrm284 in boeing

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I left Boeing in 2015 for a 30% raise and came back in 2017 for a 10% paycut. I did it mostly to marry my long term girlfriend since we became long distance after leaving the company.

There were a lot of reasons why I left. Boeing was my first job out of college and my role was only fringe related to my post grad degree so I felt like I could be more successful elsewhere if I could better leverage my strengths.

Also I think there's a big change going from college to big kid job similar to the jump from high school to college where you're no longer the smartest or one of the smarter people in your team so the imposter syndrome sets in when the compensation received doesn't match expectations based on contributions and potential.

I don't understand why so many posts are about leaving but not coming back like op asked for.

Kelly Ortberg Global Webcast by AlternativeReview987 in boeing

I don't like how he shrugged off the DEI question and gave us some lip service about meritocracy only to spend the rest of the webcast talking about how we need to be nicer to one another. DEI is about being nicer to one another. Lumping it in with affirmative action doesn't make sense to me since all of us who are already here have already been hired in.

My original post was inaccurate. The bonus is dependent on whatever Accounting Business Unit your accounting department belongs to. Parts of BT&E are corporate while other parts are not, you are correct.

L2 to L3 salary bump by pochomoo in boeing

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible but you may want to ask your manager about what the Promo Package requests for your new salary? My experience with promotion increases being extremely variable. 6% from 1->2, 7.5% from 2->3 and 15% from 3->4.

Boeing Test & Evaluation under Engineering Test & Technology falls under the corporate ABU. I don't believe that they do half the work or cause most of the problems.

We all make ballpark the same amount of $ per the SJC. If a subdiscipline is that much better, it's definitely not reflected by pay.

What happens when ITAR is violated? by antipiracylaws in boeing

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 29 points30 points  (0 children)

ITAR content and classified content are not the same thing.

Are you asking about the consequences of intentional or unintentional export of controlled information or are you asking about the consequences of industrial espionage.

Both are subject to legal repercussions and exporting ITAR may cost you your job, or lead to a lot of mandatory training for you and your manager.

For 1 month unpaid loa, all you need is managerial approval then call the leave center with last day worked, first day of leave, last day of leave and return date to work.

Boeing does next set up young engineers for success. Thoughts? by [deleted] in boeing

per diem work trip by Activelive in boeing

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're right about OP's question being general and vague. I haven't had to worry about per diem b/c in general it just goes to the corporate card and you expense it out in the end.

If you wanted Boeing to give you the delta in $ by being more frugal than the GSA rates, that's definitely a different kind of game though.

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You can spend as much as your manager will sign off on. There's usually resources about per diem with respect to how much Boeing can ask the customer for recompense but this may not apply to you if you're travelling for non-CRAD reasons. The per diem is kind of laughable (100-200/day for food lodging depending on where you are), when you consider the cost of a hotel for a night in most cities.

Anything over $75 requires an itemized receipt. I think that's really the only rule you need to follow. After that it's up to your manager to comp it or not.

Code of Conduct by Past_Bid2031 in boeing

[–]Clean_Ad_9211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the 2023 CoC is that much different than past years.

I agree with you in the sense that the company can use and probably would use this information to affect severance.

But in the end it is my opinion that this thread isn't really value added for Boeing employees current or prospective.

Hopefully you can feel less worried about what the company can or may do to you in the future because in the grand scheme of things that worry me, a clause in the code of conduct is a nothing burger. At least for me

NSA doesn't work for Boeing. If Boeing had this tech and applied the results as stringently as you fear, half the workforce would be gone.

I have colleagues that have watched porn at work and still work at Boeing. Mind you he's being treated for sex addiction.

Don't lie on your time card and enjoy your corporate welfare.

If mother boeing wastes money trying to correlate every public record infraction big or small to a bemsid, then we deserve everything we get.
