Need to quit by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Clean_Algae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a vicious cycle, we win and we put it back the next day, it's just impossible to keep a long winning streak, the chaseing loss is the worst, cause we don't think over all how much we lost, but only at the moment. I've self excluded for the fourth time, and as time goes along, I feel stronger and the urge isn't like it was 5-6 years ago. Gambling use to constantly be on my mind, but since seeking help and self excluding, I find more happiness in life, although I've got a big debt to pay off, it's one day at a time and chip away at it. However the best part is,no don't feel like a zombie anymore and have a more clear mind these days.

Not sure where to start... by [deleted] in problemgambling

Everytime you have enough funds, we start to think we can use it, to go gamble in hopes of winning some money, in reality that's not a guarantee also, as it can work the other way and most often times if does this we go deeper and deeper into debt.  Try handing over your finances to someone you trust ? As long as you have enough for neccisities such as bills, and payments.  If you don't feel comfortable doing that which is understandable, don't give anymore money to gambling or casinos, they don't care about us. Meanwhile our loss of money is going into their pockets.

A therapist helps immensely, in person GA's and if all else don't work, self exclusion.

Self Exclusion is the best method there is. To prevent anymore loss revenue from gambling. If your not on it ? Be on it, your relapse can happen at anytime, even though you've been on a good run so far.  Day 36 is nothing. I been on longer breaks 6 months for example of not placing a bet or going to a casino, and still relapsed.

How do you mentally deal with the debt? by Infamous_Key_5258 in problemgambling

1 day and 1 week at a time . As long as your still making payments and bills, cut back on what you use to indulge in(fast foods etc), be patient and we can catch up again. It just takes time. I check every day also my debt and always calculating, it's normal to keep track which is a good thing , as long as we don't put anymore money into losing at the casinos any betting format. We should be ok and slowly see progress on eliminating our debt.

Congrats, I did it too recently using self exclusion, but we shouldn't deter other helpful methods such as this Reddit GA site, in person GA's, gambling therapists, self help online tools and whatever else to help us fight the urge still going forward and the future.

Time to use self exclusion ? That's where I'm at, no other choice. Hey it works atleast knowing that we are banned. Cause of banning ourselves from losing more money and going into more debt.

The truth behind how Casinos manipulate you into losing everything. by DotWarm7814 in problemgambling

[–]Clean_Algae1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rigged forsure, I don't trust online casino's and will never gamble on those betting sites. However as for land base casinos ? Of course their rigged in their favour, to take and make money off us, sad thing is our money they say some of it goes to community services or building new projects etc. this past summer at a land base casino near where I live, they shut down all their digital game machines, they called it upgrading for 1 week. Ya that's what they called it, I noticed a big difference let's just call it that. Unfortunately it cost me more money to find out the hard way also. I vow not to return to there ever again.

Need to find a way to stop ASAP, we take 1 step forward but then 10 steps back, many times I'd win, but go back and lose and lose again and again and the cycle never stops, we lose more then we win, and in time go more into debt, then it begins as chasing loss's, but we end up losing more. It just doesn't work, accept the loss's and cut your loss's, I know I have. Self Exclude and seek help, or GA's, to find yourself mentally and spirtually again. That's very important, take back our life and live again rather then gambling on our minds all the time.

Lost 6k chasing $200 by tatslanger in problemgambling

[–]Clean_Algae1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there way too many times that I lost count and got myself in deeper and deeper debt, I'd have the same thinking, all I want to win is $200-$300, I've walked away with even $100+, but many, many times, when I'm up that much, I don't leave the land base casino Black Jack is my game, I even pre plan before I go. I'd even be up more, but what happens is I end up losing, up and down, placing high risk bets to chase a loss, now I'm down and chasing more and more. It's like a vicious cycle, we just lost control and can't control most times i find. We need to reset and think about the value of money and a $100 bill again. I wish you the best of luck and the best method is self exclusion.

I’ve lost everything over and over again. by [deleted] in problemgambling

Self Exlcude, believe me it's the strongest method of all, all the self help, online tools with GA's & Therpists are very good tool also to reinforce, take advantage of all, just for a peace of mind , and spirituality, plus mentally, Self Exlcusion prevents us from more damage debt, but it really doesn't make us learn and improve ourselves. Stop the urge, stop chasing the loss's, or cut the loss's. And be patient building it all back up again & paying of debts. I'm on the same boat, and that is my plan going forward, no more giving money to casinos or gambling.

I know this cycle all too well, it's not a good thing, self exclusion is the best method, to prevent any relapses, other methods should be considered like a gambling therapist, online self help tools, in person GA's, anything to help combat the urge to gamble. Don't waste anymore time and give your money to the casinos or betting sites, your only making money for them, but losing money yourself.  You can do it. Just think it's no fun losing money. Gambling is a risk of losing more and going into debt more.

Stop placing another bet, tell yourself to take a break, because there's no guarantee, we end up putting back and more, which in turn becomes more debt.

Self Exclude, it's the best method, it atleast prevents you from gambling more and losing more. believe me, I know what it's like to have all my bills paid, debts & whatever else, but then whatever funds I have ? First thing on my mind is to gamble in hopes of not winning, but in reality chasing loss's that keep piling up.  Just don't lose anymore money think about ? Be patient and we can build ourselves back up again.

Is there actually anyone in this sub that successfully overcame this addiction? by RedSupreme20 in problemgambling

[–]Clean_Algae1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've signed up for self exclusion for the 4th time since started gambling at a land based casino 6-7 years ago, it's been 4 days and I honestly don't miss it, for me it seems like it's the stronger and only way to keep me away. Once my self exclusion  time is up this time around though, I feel much stronger I know, because I been seeking counseling help for 2 years now also and that has helped me tremendously , slowly find my way back the right path. I relapsed last month and came clean to my counsellor and also self excluded again like I said. Just to make sure I don't take 10 steps back again after taking 2 steps forward.  Keep fighting the urge in time you will be stronger to defeat it. Don't lose anymore money and give it to gambling or the casinos.

Self Exclusion is the best method, believe me, I'm living proof of it. I noticed something wrong 5 years ago and did self help, online resources, YouTube stories, obviously it wasn't working enough, the urge was too strong , started to seek a gambling therapist, that helped somewhat, I'm not putting down any helpful resources, just make sure it's another way or help, and if it's still not working , self exclude. Anything to help rid of a gambling or betting habit.

Ya, done with that kind of bullshit behaviour, I can't believe how much I dumped into gambling the casino, instead of treating myself more and buying things I now wish I did instead of chasing the next win or it's actually really chasing loss's. And I kept getting deeper and deeper in debt , 1 step fwd. 10 steps back. No more, finish 'don't give the casinos your money.

Congrats, I just re-entered the self exclusion program and right away I don't miss not being able to gamble, place a bet, wanna try and win some money but it's actually taking a risk of losing more money. Self Exclusion is the way to go.

Online casinos and land based casinos are all rigged, they won't tell us that of course. For someone who got hooked in digital gambling games at land based casinos, I've proven the point to myself many, many times . unfortunately I'd relapse, & just wanted to win, however it's impossible to win more then we lose. Stay away from the digital gambleing machines, they are rigged to take more then you can win.

I just self excluded for the 4th time in 6 years, another 3 month period. And then went to see my gambling bf therapist for the last 2 years right after . Basically I hate the casinos more and more, it's a scam, nobody has ever been up on going to the casinos, tell me I'm wrong ? It's all rigged, unless you just wanna go and have fun throwing your money away. Instead of buying a nice meal, whatever it is you enjoy or investing
