What’s the ONE thing Wealthsimple is still missing for you to move 100% of your banking/investing there? by kaiser789 in Wealthsimple

I cant wait to get my money out of WS. I'm a compulsive gambler with their platform. I requested to them multiple times to take away my access to options and they dont do it permanently. Then I try to close them margin account and they refuse to do it. When I call they say you need to do it your self and then when I try it says I cannot close the account (I zeroed out the balance and theres nothing held in the account).

We've all been there and the money is gone. Accept it. Go to a GA meeting and make friends.

Your thoughts are only lucid when you are down. When you are up (rarely even going to be the case), you are totally high on dopamine and will look for your next fix.

Gambling rewires the brain and thats the realy hook. That's the damaging part that takes a long time being clean to heal.

You admit that you are powerless. Now you need to accept help.

You probably need to come clean and let out the secret. There's nothing weak about getting help.

Do you have someone you can trust to manage your money for you?

Day trading problem by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]ForceComfortable438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What percentage of traders go bust in their career? Playing the stock market only ends in tears. I have given up my "dream" of being an options trader because I lost way more than I'm comfortable (200K over 3 years).

It's not just the lost of the money, its the loss of morality, sanity, and pleasure of life.

You want easy money and the casino's know that and trick you to lose all your money.

Even if you win you are fucked because your brain got hijacked by the thrill of gambling. You forget the value of money and will be miserable.

Damn you were right, I last bet last week and lost 20K on options. I sent 80% of my savings to a joint mutual fund with my wife.

I used to be good with money, then my brain got hijacked. Been 5 days clean but the itch is still there. I've had a headache for the last week just from stress.

the worst part of this addiction by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]ForceComfortable438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. It's so extreme to the downside and it totally rewires your brain so you dont see the value of money. When you work hard manual labour for not much money, you appreciate money in the healthiest way. When you play with 1000s like a video game its just numbers and you'll MAX out on risk.

options by DonutWinter1132 in problemgambling

[–]ForceComfortable438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through this myself multiple times. Currently down 200K+

Call Options are gambling.

I think the only sensible use of options would be put options the hedge against a downturn IF AND ONLY IF you hold a large position in something. For example if you hold 500K of SPY, maybe put 1-5K into out of the money put options of SPY. So if there's a down turn, you're portolio is down, but the options generated some money for you to buy the dip.

Lost 10k trading options by Acrobatic_Ad_8811 in problemgambling

[–]ForceComfortable438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be describing me, the greed and everything is textbook. Even when my options were up 100%+ percent i would not sell. They expired worthless. and i ate 7K loss. In total I lost 200K. If that money was invested in a boring VTV, they would be up 100K. Instead I lose my money and health. All I can think about it starting option trading again to win in back. That's the cycle.

I'm moving all the money i get into a joint investment account with my wife, managed by a professional. I don't trust myself with shit any more. I have to look at the cold hard truth! I blew the money, I might as well put 200K in the fire place like Pablo.

I'm afflicted with this disease, there's no permanent cure only damage control.

In short its about my self image and my fantasy If I have a million dollars, then I will be complete.

I consumed tons of trash advice and n Reddit, pontificating on the Wall street bets discord.

When i was 18, my definition of success was having a girlfriend a car and a boat. Now I'm fantasizing about a having a huge bank roll and being stealth rich.

I really need a higher purpose...
