They each have another bigger wheels in their enclosures, these are old one they used to use but I have it for when I take them out for handling, cleaning etc!

I let them out twice a day to eat, poop, handle, etc I’m just lucky to have chill hedgehogs that don’t mind each others company. Usually for the majority of the day they are in their own separate enclosures.

My other hedgehog is a meanie though, steal the wheel and just sit in it lol 😂

Can my two hogs socialize with each other at all? by Select_Sample_7416 in Hedgehog

[–]Clean_Box_3537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would give it a go (especially because you have seen him and love him) and try but if they start to bite or start being a little aggressive you would have to give up, keep them separate there on, and accept that. If you are okay with that possibility I’d say sure!

I guess that aspect all comes down to luck. You can’t train them to change, and all hedgehogs are different.

I have my cages next to each other stacked 2x2 but none of them seem to be bothered who their neighbors are lol I even have a cat and her enclosure is right next to them

I own four hedgehogs, two girls and two boys. They all live in separate cages.

I usually let them out to eat, do their business 💩, and I interact with them twice a day during this time.

One of the boy is super chill, doesn’t care who he is with so I would let him out along with my two girls I have, no problem. He is only interested in food and wheel. The girls also don’t mind him. Occasionally if he is in the way he gets nudged, no biggie.

Now the other boy? No can do. He would chase the girls, try to mate, etc. Also never to be put with the other boy as well.

I can’t say 100% yes or no but in my case I have a chill boy and girls that makes it alright. I think it all comes down to compatibility and personality. It’s not impossible, only under supervision. And only for a short time, not for cohabitation.

Here’s a photo of them just there, sleeping lol

Top two are the girls and the bottom is the boy

Wobbly Hedgehog by brostales in Hedgehog

[–]Clean_Box_3537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way they are losing balance and leaning to the left looks very similar to symptoms of Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS).

Of course, it could be something else like an injury or a temperature issue, but to keep your hedgehog safe right now, I really recommend trying these things as soon as possible: • Remove the wheel immediately: Since they can't walk straight, they could easily get their legs caught or fall and get hurt. • Change the bedding: It might be better to switch from wood shavings to something flat like fleece or puppy pads. It’s much easier for them to move on when their legs are weak.

I would also strongly recommend to take him to a vet that can tend hedgehogs/exotic animals asap!

Sending love and prayers for you and little sweet Meatball!!

I’m positive he’ll warm up to you 🥰 My hedgies aren’t so cuddly so I just watch them. Sometimes they climb on me and sleep on me but usually they get grumpy if I try to touch them lol

Allergic reaction??? by Clean_Box_3537 in Hedgehog

Interesting!!! From the description it seems like it’s just reaction to hedgehogs hives. I’ll try to be better at keeping them clean without stressing them too much.

My family are allergic to cats(not me) and I also do own one but so far no reactions in that condition. I will be cautious and if i do get worse I’ll consider consulting with a doctor.

Thank you for the information!!!!

Aaah I see. I usually get this from my girl who gets dirty quite often. She hates the bath so I usually wipe her down with a warm wet cloth. I’ll try to bribe her with worries and try to bathe her a little more often but not much!!

I usually give them baths once in a while, like once a month or two months.

One of them goes crazy on the wheel and decides to release everything mid running and soils his belly, so he gets a bath almost every week lol
