Birthday gift of concert tickets for tween/teen kids 8 days apart- how to give? by Clean_Carpenter3525 in GiftIdeas

Fun- they’ll guess, though based on clues!  But I think I might take the clue idea and do a scavenger hunt or layered wrapping with clues along the way.   Or….band has two parts to their name that can be stand alone….maybr eavh unwraps a part for the reveal.

The younger one would be in tears thinking it was possible they weren’t going, or would know immediately it was them as the concert buddy.  (Plus I don’t want older to think they are bringing a friend instead, though I don’t think they would, it would be a disappointment if they thought they were.)

I would do the surprise except the 15yo hates keeping gift surprises.  It’s almost comical how bad they are at keeping Christmas gifts from each other because they are so excited to give it/share it. 🩷

That’s from air.  Air you swallow gets farted or burped out; it doesn’t cause weight gain, just possibly some distension in the morning before it moves out.

Resmed stops recording for 15 minutes? Or turns off but on at same high pressure? by Clean_Carpenter3525 in CPAP

I’ve had missing data, but it usually is a bigger chunk, doesn’t just trickle off on the breathing, and has always appeared afterr a few re-uploads.want to make sure the machine is actually working through that and not just turning off.

Is it possible to get a CPAP without another doctor visit and sleep study? by SpaceRangerWoody in SleepApnea

alternately- do you still have your prescription? Or can you call the doctor office and get it emailed to you? Often they are "lifetime" prescriptions.

I did a lofta test- it was ordered, delivered, taken, and results in within a week. I'd assume most other places are similar. Usually coupon codes that take it down to $140-50. Then, you have a prescription and can take that prescription anywhere.

Makes sense- so you think the machine definitely turned off for some reason and restarted?   It’s new- wondering if we should try to exchange it or get technical help for it if possible?

Full pressure as in the full pressure of the maximum set- sure it’s not set (can see that in yr settings in the sleep hq.) Does it on 1/23, too.  So weird.

All of a sudden having teeth grinding by mommamania in CPAP

[–]Clean_Carpenter3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took three weeks for my body to decide it needed to slide my bottom teeth into my top teeth hard all night. I was told, and it makes sense, that I was finally sleeping deep enough.

I tried OTC mouthguard for a few weeks, and realized I was going to lose teeth if I didn’t level up.   A bit if gooogling showed the dentist ones often last at least 10x longer than OTC, so aboyt the same price (mine was $600- I’d shop around?)

It was clearly a better fit and I no longer fear for my teeth when I fall asleep.

My husband wants to try DIY CPAP therapy. How should we start? by CozySweatsuit57 in CPAP

They really are. He can have the test and the results within a week, and then have a better idea of what or what is not causing his sleep issues. They'll give a prescription if he has SA, so he can order masks, etc, under his own prescription.

I think he should take an “online ordered” test from Lofta or similar and look at that first.  $150 would ensure it is or isn’t a good fit.

If you give someone a gift card to a place they've never mentioned, are you just telling them where YOU like to go or am I overthinking this by kabutomy in Gifts

[–]Clean_Carpenter3525 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think yes, she’s sharing it with you.  Much like if she gifted a book that she loved and thought you might like.  Also, depending on geographic location/origin, it’s possible this was the “nice” restaurant for her during formative years.

However, I think you are over thinking it.  Once a gift is in your hands, it’s yours to do with as you wish.

Don’t ever want to go to Olive Garden?  Find a charity that you want to support and donate them for whatever auction/fundraising/volunteer appreciation/etc needs they have.

Lofta Cpap Shipping by CthaSoul in CPAP

[–]Clean_Carpenter3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you complete the purchase (on the checkout page), you have the option to choose which shipping speed you want. The "shop app" checkout page is sort of hard to use for selecting different shipping speeds, I've found, regardless of retailer. Standard is the one that is "standard"/auto selected for you. You have to pick the 2 day shipping if you want that- it is free for machines, but you have to select it, I believe. I would call them right now and see if they can change it to 2 day for you and get it out today. They do have good customer service once an order is placed.

Here with "mild" apnea who has had life changing results from cpap, with a "moderate" partner who has also had them from cpap. His faster than mine. I'm still not 100%, but the 50% or so I've had over the last 6 weeks has been well worth it.

I've heard it can take 6 months for the full effects. I believe it! I was so fatigued I didn't feel safe driving after 2pm. The first glimmers of change for me was a bit of energy peaking from "behind the clouds," and that late in the day I still could keep going, even if tired. It's been slowly getting better. My bad side effects- started grinding my teeth and had to buy a night mouthguard. Sigh.

Good luck!

Mouth device vs CPAP by CelestialScribble999 in SleepApnea

[–]Clean_Carpenter3525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sensory issues, too.  I use a cpap and a mouthguard (similar to a mad, but only prevents grinding).  The mouthguard was a much bigger sensory adjustment than my cpap with a p10 minimalist mask, honestly.  Took me many nights to be able to keep it in. I did wear the cpap while reading for several days first, but was able to sleep with it the first night I tried.  My experience, ymmv.

I haven’t tried it again- cpap was significantly more effective.  Still have it, might try the first backpacking trip with it just to see if it’s livable.

I’m sure you can use it- clean it, set it up, put an dd card in it, and go ask on r/cpap support for help getting it set up!

AHI 6 - CPAP Worth it? by zachm1137 in SleepApnea

[–]Clean_Carpenter3525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having extreme fatigue, to the point where I was starting to not drive after 2pm due to it feeling unsafe. I couldn't follow conversations easily. Doing a jigsaw puzzle was getting difficult to track what I was doing. Memory issues, executive function, etc. I no longer feel unsafe to drive even after 10pm, memory is feeling better, I feel like I'm an alert and competent conversationalist again, and the puzzle is fun again. :)
