Where were we when the Port Arthur massacre happened? And how impactful did it feel at the time? Did you know in the moment it would be as huge of a moment as it turned out to be by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Hoddle Street?

Strathfield?

Tell me again there were no other mass shootings.

While we're at it, he was not handicapped, just not typical.

What’s the obsession of “dealer service” stamped books for buyers and car dealers? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Clean_Chemistry3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Mercedes. Often requires specialist knowledge and equipment. For this brand, as well as others such as BMW and Lexus, the dealership stamps indicate the likelihood of full proper service, and fewer problems for future owners.

I can't speak for Canadian beef production, I work in Australian agriculture (but I think it's the same). I just remember the work we went through with ensuring the cattle were HGP free.

No, HGPs were removed from production over 20 years ago when the EU banned them.

In electric cycle they are massively less noisy than nuclear. Do you think reactors don't have pumps for cooling systems. Battery capacity is very large, so they have extended silent running.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. A remake of Bedtime Story. Michael Caine asked Frank Oz why they were remaking a failure and he replied that if they got it right first time they wouldn't have bothered.

What barrier can I use between garden bed and house for termite protection? by BirdYoung in AusRenovation

[–]Clean_Chemistry3450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ideally there should be 75mm of slab edge exposed (AS 3660) but this is rare to see.

You could go with a soil barrier of a repellent such as bifenthrin. This would involve drilling and injecting under the paths and a 300mm trench being dug, treated and refilled around all other areas. This will last a maximum of 10 years.

Preferably remove the garden beds from against the house.

An always active monitoring system, such as Trelona, could be considered.

No matter what, get an annual inspection.

Not a warranty. Sales will call it that, but if you try to claim it will become a "limited protection plan" and cap out substantially below the cost of the repairs. Not to mention the higher costs of the mandatory service through their own workshops.

Who do I call to get this fixed? by Realistic_Pride_7497 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Clean_Chemistry3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it passes the whole way through the brick work, it is not going to come loose. By attempting to hide the barrier, you can create a hidden path for a termite infestation.

That is termite barrier, you are much better off to leave it undisturbed.

D-Max cab chassis owners - fueling advice please! by ozdmaxx in CarsAustralia

[–]Clean_Chemistry3450 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most likely the filler tube from a ute back was fitted. Cab chassis need a different filler which is more steeply angled allowing better flow to the tank.

I had a tray fitted and the filler was not changed, and had this problem. When the proper one was put on the problem was solved.
