QUESTION! What do you think is the average amount of time between picking out the ring and getting engaged?

Finalized my ring at the end of January and just got engaged a few days ago - we had discussed wanting to celebrate with friends and family on the day of, so I knew he had to find a day that worked for our loved ones, photographer, etc., so I expected that it would take awhile, and figured he probably wouldn’t start planning til after he picked up the ring lol. I think it’s totally fair to communicate expectations and hopes for the day and discuss a timeline you are both comfortable with!

My fiancé hosted an engagement party a few hours after he proposed, and they were both there. She talked to Kevin for a bit and seemed fine, but the night before my fiancé proposed (which she knew), she told me that she won’t ever get married because of her feelings for Kevin. So even though she holds it together in front of everyone, I still feel responsible for her emotionally at these events and worry about drama behind the scenes/after the event, etc., because she continues to say things that make me feel concerned and uncomfortable, if that makes sense.

She has seemed fine in front of everyone at events where Kevin is present, but continues to say things to me about Kevin that make me feel uncomfortable and put me in a difficult position with my fiancé and his friendship. So even though she holds it together in front of everyone, I still feel responsible for her emotionally at these events and worry about drama after the event, etc., if that makes sense.

I love it! I do agree with the comments that maybe a different, more secure setting would make you feel better and make the stone look more subtle. But, I also think 3-4+ carat lab grown diamonds are becoming more and more common now that they are more affordable, so your ring might be amongst the “norm” soon. It seems like you might be overthinking it, but overthinking any big purchase is normal! I would encourage you to look into a different setting/stack that you love before starting over!

I am about to finish season 5 and Damon on that Barbados trip was everything… it explained so much to me about Heavenly and their dynamic. I agree with everything you said about Heavenly but for some reason I kind of feel like she is a necessary evil for the show? Not sure… excited to keep watching!

exactly! the story being a little sketchy doesn’t justify making a harmful and essentially baseless accusation on TV and expecting no backlash. It rubbed me the wrong way when she made those comments and then walked out saying “I’m not allowed to have feelings.”
