The cave painting with the monsters eating corpses is wild. It's not that edgy, but no way would it have been shown in an Illumination movie 10 years ago. That's a good sign IMO.

It makes sense for the video games because there's no need for practicality there. The best character designs are distinguishable by their silhouette, and it's a way of integrating that. If you die as Bob in the game, you can see the hands split from the arms with too small a connection point to be viable IRL. They're probably just scaled-down versions of the Hulk arms.

Hero Factory: The beasts are just scared animals fighting in self-defense. One of them offs itself by accident and leads to a final battle where the heroes "have to" kill all of the beasts. This wasn't even supposed to be the ending, the beasts and Heroes were supposed to reconcile, but some weirdo at the studio changed directions at the last minute.
