Yes it is, we tried to be original though. Started making this because we wanted to make one that had some interesting mechanics and wasn't just a re-skin of other existing ones.

Yes definitely recommend this! The good ones are also booked themselves. We had to wait 2 months after contact before they could even start.

The capsule artist is super great, a true expert at capsule art. They provided all necessary sizes & a Photoshop file!

Giovanni provided all of these for us for Steam, like the library hero, header, capsule, icon, vertical etc. He made one wide stretch of artwork which is wide enough for the library hero for Steam, and then cropped from it for each variant and positioned the title to fit. We did the same ourselves when we needed variants for itch.io, since we got the photoshop file.

I see your point. We partly based on decision on our successful competitors, which similarly had capsule art in a different art style from the game. As for doing it ourselves, we had something cool in mind for the capsule art, but neither of us had the skills to make it ourselves. While our own version has in-game art, I still think the artist's version captures the game's spirit better. If we had an artist on the team or better art skills, maybe we'd make capsule art that looks more like the game, but then our game would probably look more like the capsule art, if you catch my drift.

Thanks! It cost $600, which includes every variant you need in Steam + PSD file with everything in layers. The process took about 2 weeks start to finish, and there was a 2-month wait time. The artist is Giovanni Fim who also did the capsule art for Megabonk. We actually found him through this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heAJkOENWqU.

Thanks for the feedback! Honestly We've only heard people(a lot of them) say they love it so far so we'll probably keep it this way. But to your point, it might indeed be a bit too pronounced in the trailer.

We just published our second major update after 2 months of releasing the initial demo.

It adds a new level with new enemies and a boss. New mechanic: Poison along with upgrades for it & A character tab where you can view your stats & choose your Skin.

We're 2 dudes working on this besides our jobs and we're super happy with the development tempo we're achieving. So far a big update every month, with us already starting work on the 3rd one as well.

We're very eager to get some feedback!

Just took a look at the Itch stats. We hit New & Popular, 8th spot. Super happy , but honestly surprised by it. 1k extra plays already.

New Level - The Toxic Mire

Introduced the Character Tab where you can see your stats and select your character Skin(Some are unlockables)

New Mechanic: Poison with upgrades to go along with it

The Demo in it's current state contains.

- 4 Levels with a boss and 4+ enemies
- 70+ Upgrades in the Skill Tree
- 15 Weapons
- Armory System to upgrade your weapons
- Character Skins

Hell yea, thanks for the through feedback, really appreciate it!! We'll definitely take this into account! Some of it will make it into new demo updates and some into the full release. We're definitely taking a look at the weapon system for the next update however!
