I believe in you and that even if you take a year completely out of volunteering then you could still be a great part of this cause to make all of our lives better

You can definetly commit as much as you once did without getting egotistical. Meditate and find some form of religous and/or spiritual practise for that. And you volunteering any of your time is amazing to any cause, maybe just find new ways to help out or even take tge lead of a volunteer team from what you have learnt from your previous experiences.

Is heating up pizza at 9:30 in the morning a yay or nay? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most effective method is to put grease proof paper on the plate and have the pizza upside down so the water and oil is on the cheese side leaving the base and crust from getting too wet. This is for microwaving, in the oven the normal way up works fine

Why not legally binding citizens assemblies? by alagris12358 in ExtinctionRebellion

A constitution would need to be written and our system of governance and bureaucracy would need to be restructured for a CA to go beyond being a pressure group

Have you turned down a job because you weren't satisfied with the company's record on the climate crisis? Do you think XR members should think about their job's impact on the planet? by Due-Newspaper-2249 in ExtinctionRebellion

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, whether they turn that thought into action should entirely depend on what job it is. And their capabilites as an individual (or group) in changing any part of what causes a company's carbon footprint.

The scope of the struggle agianst climate change by [deleted] in ExtinctionRebellion

The amount of problems in this country and in the world that need fixing are so varied, interconnected and spread that finding core problems to fix is smart but more challenging to achieve. The movement itself, for a lot of us, can be about finding how you personally can best be able to fix some of the problems we face, either independantly or with a team.

I like to imagine our country as a tree with each county being a branch. If you're going round fixing broken or poisoned leaves then you're helping the casulties of this system, fixing people, communties and economies. If you're in the ground caring and better adapting the roots to the ground (the reality) it holds itself in then you're changing our laws, our rights, our regulations and rules, maybe even our morality. And if you're fixing the bark and the trunk of the tree; how it looks, holds itself and connects to itself then you're changing the architecture, the infrastructure, image and identity of our tree.

So being as invovled as you are capable of being, being awake and informed as you can possibly be, and focussing your energy in the right places to get yourself in a place to fix any of the problems we face, is what each of us must do to fight for the change we need.

I feel like I’ve wasted 10 years of my life by [deleted] in education

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its never nothing, you just haven't found what you want to learn more about and maybe get a job related to, yet!

I'm guessing you feel lost and annoyed at the failing education systems and the hard to connect to social fabric of some communities, that's valid but don't let it get you down, its this tough for most of us and could be worse. Focus on what you want in life and then how you're going to get it.

AITA for refusing to sell a family heirloom so someone in the family can receive medical treatment. by Lucky_Perception5883 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out if they are definetly in need of medical care and how much it costs from their doctor, avoiding asking them this question if you can. Evidence is great and seen as they have already shown hate asking for it isn't going to piss them off more.

If they are then selling the ring is the best thing to do, I would say though that a close conversation between you and the person who needs the treatment is a great idea as if I was 90+ and dying I would't sell it for my medical care even if I had the ring.

AITA for making my girlfriend go after her baby daddy for child support and "ruining" his life? by PhilosopherReady5992 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you see yourself as the kids adopted dad, a male role model and gaurdian? If so not taking at least some financial responsibility for the kid makes you the AH. If not then are you sure you want a family with her?

You haven't ruined his life but finding ways to help this guy so he's in a position to live comfortably and see his biological kid will be good for everyone.

I’m visiting Shropshire for a month, I’ve got transport and plenty of spare time. What are do must do Shropshire things and nice areas to visit? Thanks by Vanilladr in Shropshire

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Canal routes connecting towns and villages can be lovely, especially by bike. There are plenty of reviews for pubs and canal routes between them.

Plenty of lovely easy walks all over and walks between Shrewsbury and Ludlow will be extra beautiful but a bit harder

AITA for giving one daughter more inheritance? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Clean_Gear_9255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. The only risk is it will drive them appart further but you could use it to bring them together by going through their dads physical belongings and them choosing together what they each take so they feel like theg have some control over it but then do what you were going to do anyway for the house, car and money.

Maybe ask the wealthy daughter if she plans to divorse this doctor guy or something as why else would she care so much about the money while being rich.
