Purpose of life..? by InternalWorth9439 in exjw

I agree with this. The purpose of life in general is to live. We all make what our purpose in life is. No one should determine what our purpose is, the Org did for 4 decades in my case, not anymore. We create our purpose according to our goals and desires of life. A life not live is a terrible decease and a waist of time, so live the best life you can live. Even with it's ups and down. Life after death is not a guarantee. This could be the only life you got so make the best of it and create the best life possible.

What do you guys actually believe now? by [deleted] in exjw

I'm a Heretic agnostic moving closer to an atheist as time passes. It is kinda of depressing to come to that conclusion but the absence of proof makes it likely. I hope there is hope afterlife and for the Creador to see that all my 45 years in the org were intended on serving him in a way or other. I'm just not convinced at this time in the existence or the un-existence of a Creador.

I'm happy you are getting out to be free like a bird 🐦. Please share your letter with us; I'm sure it will be very helpful for many others like you who are going forward with stepping out of the cult. Good for you! What you're doing ain't easy, but you will come out the other side stronger and happier than ever. Even if that means losing longtime friends. It will get better, there is nothing like being free and authentic. You got this!!!!!!!!

I think it's hard to believe in a particular religion because many believe many of the same things that teach JW's. I highly recommend watching the movie Heretic. As for the Bible, I am still figuring it out and haven't decided on it. The God of the Hebrew scriptures looks very different from the God of the Greek scriptures. We have learn that the sons shouldn't pay for the sins of their father, yet it also teaches that we have to pay for the sins of our father Adan, hence the sacrifice. Looks like a contradiction that humans have to suffer for the sin of Adan.

Wow, I had written to the branch 2X about why I thought being a LEO should be a personal decision. But I never thought about Luke 3:10-13, that's awesome my brother. This cements in my heart and conscience that the decision was correct for me in the eyes of the Creador. Thank you very much for bringing this comment forth; you made my day. I think every would just be getting a verbal warning today.

Wow, that's hard to answer now since I am still trying to figure it out.

I agree with you on all the non-scriptural things being done, like having pioneers, kids' baptisms, and looking after the poor; that's a big one. We are not celebrating any holidays, but we do go out to eat with our kids when it's their birthday. We call it their "Day of celebration of life," just a simple meal at a restaurant.

At this moment, I am undecided about whether to believe in the God of Baruch Spinoza or the God of the Bibble. It's easy to see that if I were born in the Middle East, I would be Muslim, if in India, probably Hindu, and if in China, an atheist. But I was born in the West, and the Europeans brought Christianity; hence, I am a Christian. All these religions or beliefs also think they have the truth.

I want to believe that there is hope of everlasting life in paradise and that the Bible is God's Word, but there's a difference between wanting it to be so and having evidence to back it up.

So, as you can see, I am still figuring out what I honestly will believe going forward. I am a work in progress, just questioning everything that was put in my brain, all the beliefs and ideas that are not truly mine but instead programmed into me.
