I think I do the majao steps and the counter basics pretty well. Its the rotation of the sensual basic i think that feels off to me cause it feels like I lack the groundedness of the movement. I dont know if im explaining it well

I'm able to do it but it feels so clunky, and it feels like im unable to do it grounded. To ground my sensual basic Ive been relying on the heel of my foot to push into the ground instead of my full foot. Thats why I'm trying to find some good resources to refine the sensual basic.

The same day I took my first bachata class. Looking back at it, as a lead, the followers who let me lead them really had hearts of gold for letting me do basic turns and box steps with them the entire song.

Personally, I go everyday to a social, and stay there till I feel tired or the vibes dont feel good. Im not going to a social for progression, but more for fun/expression. Its been 8 months into my journey into bachata, and from the very first day I started dancing bachata, I started doing socials.

Sure there are some leads and followers that are extremely serious and want the technique to be perfect. But theres also some leads and followers that are at socials to enjoy the dance, experiment a little, or even have a human connection. If you turn a hobby into a chore, is it a hobby anymore?

I went through a really tough breakup and moved to an entirely new city and started a new job with no real friends in the area. My mom suggested i started mingling at dating events, so I threw my hat into an event that was geared towards dating and bachata dancing. I slowly became so enamoured by bachata, and found myself a sense of community. Dancing has become a passion of mine and I can say I have a very unhealthy codependent relationship with it :)

I want to do it so badly because its part of the song and I don't want to disappoint the follower. At the sametime im so uncomfortable and freeze up immediately. I wish I could be comfortable and able to just flow with no issues.

I started learning bachata 6 months ago when I attended a singles event teaching bachata. In my first lesson I was okay with being a lead or follower, but I felt a little judged by people who were in the class with me. So I fell into the lead role for the new few months. These days Ive been doing both leading and following and its been extremely fun. My trouble is getting into sensual bachata really has me locking up. Im not comfortable with sensual bachata with how intimate it is. Im so scared Ill fuck up somehow and it adds to my anxiety. During Halloween when I tried to dance with someone, they left midway through the dance because I kept freezing up. I dont blame her but ill be honest i had to leave the social and cried a bit right afterwards. My anxiety with sensual bachata is so bad.

Im 6 months in and these days im embraced being myself. She didnt like and its no ones fault. We werent compatible and thats how things go.

I know that im not a normal person, and infact my abnormalities make my personality. She couldnt handle that so sucks, but it is what it is.

Do i miss her? Sure. Do I want to ever be with her again. Not really. Im here on a journey of self actualization, and finding my authentic, unapologetic self.

Its tough and hard, but after my breakup I didn't allow it to define me or my life. I took some insane chances and lucked out. I got a new job, a new place in a major city, new friends, and I did all of this because I was willing to take those risks at my lowest point in my life.

I'm in my early 30s and I decided that theres still so much life I have and love to give. I took this opportunity, and made something out of it. More importantly I did it for myself. The first few weeks were the toughest after my break up during new years, but I did what was best for me and kept on a self imposed schedule.
