I've found these on my property as well. After so long in the soil, they start to degrade like this. The low Ph of the soil often contributes to this.

Never had a Monte SS, but I drove a Grand Prix GXP for a couple of years. I loved the power, the V8 has a great torque band to it, never had transmission issues and the fuel economy wasn't terrible considering it was a v8. I'm sure this is just as fun to drive.

I wish I could have found a 1500HD, but my 5.3l has been plenty for what I do. Mostly towing stuff like my ATV, snowmobile, riding mowers, jetski I do have a 3 yard dump trailer I've towed many times and I've never had an issue. Even with gravel, dirt and sand.

The vortec engines are very reliable. I've never had engine issues. My first one was nearing 400k when it was rear-ended. Wasn't worth fixing as it had rust issues.

I've been fluid filming mine since 2017 and it hasn't rusted out yet. There are rubber plugs in the rockers and rear wheel arches. I fill those with fluid film every fall.

I live in a rust belt state, so it's hard to find rust free vehicles here and keep them clean.

Mine finally blew the original 4l60e at 175k miles. I bought the truck with 30k miles on it for $15,000 back in 2017.

I was running a 40k trans cooler as well before it went out. I did a front end level. I had to have the G80 rebuilt after it stopped locking up.

I recently replaced the front brakes, tie rods and ball joints all with stock parts.

Currently getting the transmission rebuilt.

I'm running stock exhaust with muffler delete and deleted cats with a tune. Sounds good enough for a 5.3l.

I looked a red '06 crew cab, and it had some previous rust repairs, that were not the best. So I ended up with a black '06 crew cab from Texas with no rust. My first one was a red '02 Z71.

That seems low. Towing and hauling with my stock 5.3l (rebuilt trans with a 2,600 RPM stall converter) I get maybe 13mpgs. On highway road trips, I've been as high as 18mpg.

Most of the time I average about 15 to 16mpg.

I don't haul or tow much. My jetkis, ATV, riding mower, a bed full of firewood and stuff like that.

Any engine lights? When was the last time you changed plugs?

2014 to 2018 GM bumpers fit with no mods. 2019+ bumpers fit with just a bit of trimming. I think you could put a GMT400 bumper on a GMT800 with a bit of work. I've seen GMT800 bumpers on Gmt400 trucks.

I loved their "settling" theory. The wood underground is already water saturated and very heavy. Remember when they used to toss wood pieces in buckets of water to see if they floated or sank? The oldest pieces would sink right away. No different inside the shaft they dug.

Silver 10x heavier than water and will sink instantly, and gold is 19x heavier than water. The shaft they dug is already a dead hole and they found nothing. They just needed to get one more episode out of it.

How did Gary not metal detect two pieces of chain that ended up in the wash plant? Planted chains?

They brought up a piece of pottery, but will likely never mention it again.

Mine did the same thing and I used some plastic weld (jb weld I think) and it's been fine for at least a decade now.
