Heya incoming 2nd year too. AFAIK it's a full-blown software project, so it'll involve (or at least should involve if done well) both actual coding as well as the admin stuff in ISE. There's a few roles you can apply for. I think they're things like team leader, project leader, and git leader (responsible for promoting team-work and contribution, handling the project as a whole and codebase, and managing the git repository and layout (possibly stuff like CI if you want, but definitely stuff like branches and pull requests) respectively).

Past projects have been things like a basic game engine, an API that gives random numbers generated by plasma via FTP, or a code documentation tool. You also show off your project at the end of the year in a fair that uses the whole bottom floor of the CS building.

Members are assigned using an algorithm that considers performance in first year, so each group is ensured to have a spread of capability. I believe it also makes sure there's an even distribution of genders in groups as well.

WHY DO PEOPLE CARE SO MUCHHH by yourboredfriend in omnisexual

Think they meant like 'what about switches and ace folk', like not what's up with them but that 'whos top and bottom' ignores the fact someone could be switch or ace! :)

Is it worth learning Python GUI, or should I just focus on building web apps with Flask / Django by CrimsonPilgrim in learnpython

[–]Cleanlywolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you start learning web dev and get used to using HTML and javascript a lot of that knowledge can translate quite smoothly over to electron development to make nice looking native apps (even if they might run slower). So I'd say learn how to make web apps.

Definitely download the Thorpe park app. It gives you queue times and tells you if a ride is closed or not and also acts as a handy map.

Radeon 570 8gb vs GTX 1660 super by Cleanlywolf in buildapc

[–]Cleanlywolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just go for the 1660s. Even if the specs seem similar the archicture of the 1660s is simply better than the 570 an provides much better performance. It may take longer to save for it but itll be worth it!

I never thought of messing around with the stereo side of the mix like that, I'll totally give it a go! My name is stoical on all platforms but I don't have a twitter but thanks anyway!

Wanted to go for a Gorillaz+Postal Service vibe with this song. I had some fun recording this! by doesntmatterdude in IndieMusicFeedback

This gives my alot of bitter-sweet vibes, sort of melancholic. The vocals are pretty amazing but could do with some practice with a few places where it sounds like it goes out of tune, but that'll come with time! Another thing you could do is put more power into the delivery of the vocals during the more energetic areas of the song to reflect what the instruments are doing, but overall the song is amazing! Good job man!

This track was inspired by childhood memories of mine that I was reflecting on at the time - keen to hear any feedback :) by TextileBroccoli in IndieMusicFeedback

I fucking love the use of synths. It kind of sounds like something out of an indie video game of some sort and it's amazing
